Birds on Branches

I saw a card like this on Pinterest and wanted to try my own take on it.

The sentiment was embossed in white on the bottom of a piece of Kraft cardstock. The branches, berries and birds were die cut and arranged around the card. I splattered the entire front with white paint before adding it to a red mat and a white card base. Easy, but so pretty!

DT 151 and AH 549 - Warm Winter Wishes

Welcome to both Double Trouble Challenge 151 and Atlantic Hearts Challenge 549!

The small graphic for Double Trouble is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

Since we have to link up with a partner challenge, I chose Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge since I am on the design team there.

This is an anything goes challenge so the only elements I had to incorporate were a circle and the sketch. The sketch worked well for what I had in mind.

The two panels in the background are turquoise patterned papers. I die cut the circle in white and Kraft and placed the kraft piece behind so the colour showing through the holes would be consistent. The sled pieces were die cut in white and inked them in the colours I wanted. A hot foiled sentiment was added across the bottom of the circle and I used gold Stickles to add some dots around the image.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have until Sunday evening to link up your project.

We can't wait to see what you create!

Butterfly Friend Card

This is such a pretty card in person - it was hard to photograph since the butterfly doesn't sit flat.

The butterfly was hot foiled in gold and I coloured it with markers from the backside. Even using very dark markers results in a much lighter view from the front. The background was die cut using a stitched coverplate die and adhered to a blue cardstock base. I added a hot foiled sentiment at the bottom with some gold metallic thread placed underneath. The butterfly was adhered only at the body, leaving the wings to fly free.

Lawn Fawn Holiday Critters

I am usually not a big fan of Lawn Fawn stamps as many of the images are so tiny, but I really like the Winter Critters. I based this design on a card I found on Pinterest.

The critters were stamped and coloured before being die cut. There is a sentiment stamp with lots of extra sentiments to customize that part. If you read the sentiments carefully, you will see that they are specific to the critters below. I heat embossed some of the backgrounds with snowflakes and one has a holographic paper background. The same patterned paper was used above and below the images.

MTTCC 72 - Fireplace Scene

Welcome to My Time to Craft Christmas Challenge 72!

The theme this week is to use yellow, orange and brown.

This was such a hard challenge for me... I tried a few different ideas and all were disasters. I finally decided to go to my Cricut to create a scene.

The background was stencilled with a brick stencil and I added all the Cricut cut elements to create a scene. The wreath was inked with dark green ink and I added berries using red Stickles. The sentiment was placed at the bottom.

Winter Critters Pop-Up Card

This cute card was inspired by one shown by Jennifer McGuire during a recent online event.

The background was lightly stencilled using a snowflake image. The critters were stamped, coloured and die cut along with the sentiment piece. They were adhered together using acetate and then placed on an angled black front. The card folds flat for mailing but pops up when removed from the envelope.

Enjoy,

Cake Gatefold Card

This card is the result of another 30 Minute Cardmaking Stash and Dash.

The parameters were as follows: Type of card - gatefold, Colour - crafter's choice, Embellishment - acrylic or enamel, Technique - crafter's choice. Lots of choice this week!

I made a standard gatefold card. I used a teal and pink colour scheme and added three layers to the front panels. I die cut some leaves and inked them (inking and die cutting are two of the techniques I chose). I stamped, coloured and die cut a cake and added that to the belly band that goes around the card. Inside, I added more leaves and stamped a sentiment. Three enamel dots were added around the cake image.

TSOT 630 - Snow-One Like You

Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 630!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is warm drinks.

I used a large scallop border die to create the border (half circle on the sketch) at the side. That piece was splattered with white paint. I stamped and coloured a snowman and the sentiment was embossed in white. I also drew a line around the snowman image using a fine tip black marker. Those pieces were adhered according to the sketch and I added some iridescent gems around the card to finish it off.

AH 548 - For You Coneflower

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 548!

The sketch appears to be very straightforward but there is so much that can be done with this!

I used a background that I had created a while ago using Lindy's Magical Powders and adhered that to dark teal cardstock. I placed a ribbon across the diagonal line. The coneflower was die cut in white and inked using shades of pink and purple. I added a ribbon at the top and a hot foiled sentiment at the bottom.

Crop and Create Card Event - Day 4

I had to delay this post a few days due to designs team commitments...

I recently participated in the SCT Crop and Create Cardmaking Event - this was my sixth card event with them and it is such a wonderful weekend of creativity, laughter and new ideas!

Today's post shows the cards that were created on the fourth day of the event (there were four days in total). There are products provided for sixteen formal classes but there are lots of extras in the box as well. I usually do the cards the same way as they are taught by the instructor as I then have the products and can go back and play more later.

Concord and 9th (layering stencils)

Altenew (layering stencils without stamped background, 3D embossing folder)

Hero Arts (four cards plus four bonus cards)

Picket Fence (layering stencils, dies)

In total, I made ALL the cards from the event - that makes 56 cards! Here are all of them!

Enjoy,

SS 737 - Cherish the Season

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 737!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to make a second card by rotating the sketch.

I chose a turquoise and gold colour scheme for my card. The striped background was hot foiled in gold on vellum and adhered to a piece of turquoise cardstock. That was then adhered to a teal card base. The poinsettia and leaves were stamped using a layering stamp set and then die cut. I added two glitter paper strips along the banner piece and used a gold foil cardstock piece for the square. The flower was arranged on that gold piece and a hot foiled sentiment was added underneath. A few teal enamel dots finished off this card.

CD 571 - Thinking of You

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 571!

You must use black and white plus ONE colour of your choice. No big surprise that for me, that extra colour was turquoise.

I ink blended a piece of white cardstock with Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks so there is a slight darkening of the colour toward the bottom. I adhered that panel to a white card base with craft foam. A leaf image was die cut from white cardstock and adhered to the inked panel. I stamped a sentiment in black and added it at the side and I also drew some dots around the leaves using a white gel pen.

MTTC 519 - Ah, Autumn!

Welcome to My Time to Craft Challenge 519!

The theme for this challenge is autumn leaves.

I have lots of leaf stamps and dies but I chose to use a set of layering stencils to create my card. This set of stencils actually makes three card fronts for mini slimline size cards but I only stencilled one of them. I used a huge number of inks, masked a lot of sections and ink blended the bases of each leaf with a second colour for added emphasis. I also used small stamps to stamp the veins onto the leaves. The stencilling and stamping process took me almost an hour, simply due to the detail.

Once that piece was finished, I gold embossed a sentiment and added some gold glitter tape underneath. That was placed on the left side against a dark brown border. I used a gold gel pen to add dots around some of the leaves to finish off this bold autumn card.

I don't normally do this but I thought it may interest you to see just how many ink colours were used to stencil the card. This is very much cleaned up from what it really looked like when I was finished - I just pushed all the inks together and put the lids on them for this photo.

Come and join us at MTTC and show us how you interpret this week's challenge.
