I Woof You

This cute mini slimline card was created for the 30 Minute Card Making Stash Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows:

Type of card: slimline/mini slimline, Colour: monochromatic, Embellishment: three of a kind, Technique: fussy cutting and Occasion: thinking of you or friendship.

I ink blended a turquoise background and splattered it with water. I die cut three circles and placed black cardstock behind the inked panel. The dogs were stamped, die cut and adhered inside each of the circles. I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment and added three gems around it.

I took the original photo BEFORE I coloured the dog's tongue pink... this is the photo after that was done!

Banded Double Gatefold Card

I have made this card style before - it was time to revisit it again.

The vellum band slides off the top and the card opens to reveal a double gatefold design. I chose purple and green papers to decorate the panels and the centre panel was embossed and I dragged an ink pad over the top. The flowers were all stamped and stencilled and I chose a large flower for inside the card. There is a notch at the top to pull out a white panel for a place to write a message.

Trio of Fun Fold Cards

Let's Stamp Together is a card kit that I receive each month - this time, it was created by Pink & Main.

All three cards are fun fold cards - not difficult ones, but cards with a twist. They are shown closed and then open (photo taken from above). The bicycle in this set is so adorable and it's not huge so it is great as part of a scene on a card.

AH 682 - Sunflower Trio

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 682!

The sketch is shown below.

I inked the edges of two pieces of yellow cardstock and adhered them at the top and bottom. The blue circle was placed above the yellow strip and I splattered the background with gold paint. The sunflowers were die cut, stencilled and cut apart. I arranged them over the top of the circle (which you can't see) and placed a butterfly at the top along with some brown gems around the card.

Rainbow Stripes on Black

This card was created for an online crop event - I used a rainbow colour theme.

The stripes were cut and adhered to a black panel. I ink blended a rainbow on white cardstock and adhered the stamped sentiment to that piece. I added some gold metallic thread to the back and glued the sentiment to the front. The black panel was adhered to a white card base and I added some gold gems around the card.

Rainbow Squares Scraps Card

This cute card was inspired by one made by Laura Beacham. I love the tiny squares and all the white space.

I chose a rainbow paper pack and cut the squares from leftover pieces. They were arranged on a white card front and a sentiment was added along with some die cut vellum leaves (patterned vellum). I doodled around the edge and adhered the front to the base with craft foam.

Enjoy,

Alyson

Cut It Up 356 - Trio of Coneflowers

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 356!

The theme for this challenge is florals - my favourite!

I pulled out one of my favourite die sets - the Honey Bee Stamps coneflower.

I die cut three sets of flowers and leaves from white cardstock and inked the pieces. They were shaped, splattered with white paint and assembled. I played with several backgrounds and finally settled on a woodgrain background. The flowers and leaves were arranged on the front and I added a heat embossed sentiment with foam tape. I added some gold gems around the flowers.

BB May - Be Happy Tiny White Flowers

Welcome to Beautiful Blossoms and our May challenge!

The inspiration photo is below. It's optional to use this but your project must have a focus on florals.

I drew my inspiration from the colours in the photo as well as the small flowers.
I lightly inked a background and embossed it with a 3D embossing folder. The flowers, leaves and ribbon were die cut and assembled. I cut some tiny flowers apart and placed them around the main image. The sentiment was added under the centre of the bow and I used clear Stickles on the centres of the flowers.

Lucky to Know You Stencilled Flowers

This card was stencilled - and the stencil is designed to make it look sort of like watercoloring. The coordinating die was used to add the stitching holes and I stitched with silver metallic thread. The front panel was trimmed to fit on an A2 card base and I added an embossed sentiment at the bottom.

Vellum Poppies

I found this card style on Pinterest and since I had most of the supplies that were used, I decided to make it myself.

The card front was hand embossed to add some lines on the front and the sentiment was stamped at the bottom. The poppies were die cut from vellum, white and black cardstock. They were assembled and I arranged the leaves underneath. I cut the leaves so the paper wouldn't show through the vellum. A few gold gems were added and I adhered the card front to the base with craft foam.

TSOT 695 - Silhouette Birthday

Welcome to Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge 695!

The sketch is shown below.

I ink blended a panel with teal, blue and purple and stamped a silhouette image. I die cut two circles and backed them with black cardstock so the pattern would show up better. The same size circles were die cut from white cardstock and that piece was then embossed. The circle frames were placed back on the white front and adhered to a black mat with foam tape and then to a teal card base. I added silver Stickles to the bottom of each pattern on the circles as well as few other places around the card.

DT 216 - Hello Bicycle

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 216!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

The wheel element in this challenge was a tough one for me...
The white background was embossed and I die cut a yellow arch and inked around the edges. The bicycle was die cut and assembled and I added flowers in the basket. The sentiment was added above the bicycle.

If you are wondering about how I met the requirements, here is the explanation:
3 layers in addition to the base - the bicycle has several layers plus the basket and flowers add additional layers.
2 shapes - the arch and the circle from the bicycle wheel are two shapes.
1 image - either the bicycle or the flowers could be the image.

Cross Stitch Card Trio

This trio of cards is from the latest Let's Stamp Together subscription. They are not really cross-stitched... just stamped with cross stitch images!

One of the cards has a stencilled centre section with some twine at the bottom. The others use several of the stamps in the set to create both focal points and backgrounds.

Hugs to You...

I tried this card style three times before I (sort of) got it right! It's difficult to line up squares without ending up on an angle. Mine isn't perfect but it's close...

The squares are all 1x1 and I cut more of them than I needed. I chose the colours I wanted and arranged them on a piece of printer paper. Once they were in place, I trimmed that piece and embossed it with a 3D folder. The sentiment was die cut and I added a small stamped piece underneath. A gold mat was used to complement the sentiment.

CD 703 - Set of Hexagon Cards

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 703!

The colour grid is below.

I used a quad stencil to create four backgrounds using all the colours in the grid.

Once the stencilling was finished, I cut the pieces into card fronts and adhered each to a teal card base. The sentiments were either stamped or embossed in gold. I stamped a few stars on some of the cards but purposely kept these flat as they will be given to a friend and I know she mails them so I didn't want to add bulky embellishments.

FQCC May - Let It Snow Shutter Card

Welcome to Farm Quest Country Christmas and our May challenge!

I decided to create a see-through scene card.

The shutters were die cut and I inked them in a light brown colour. A scene image was adhered behind the window opening and the shutter piece was adhered to an embossed card base. There is a flower box that I inked in dark blue and added white glitter paper on top to simulate snow. That piece drops down and the shutters open to reveal the scene. A hot foiled sentiment was placed at the top.

Mixed Coloured Comsos Flowers

The base for this card was die cut using a Gina K background die. I die cut all the flowers and branches from white cardstock and inked them (flowers in two colours). The arrangement was assembled and picked up with Press 'n Seal. I adhered everything to the die cut front which was raised with foam tape. The top flower bud ended up off the top of my card so I will have to make a custom envelope so the card fits. The centres of the flowers were brushed with clear Stickles and I added a sentiment at the bottom.

Alyson

Lattice Fold Card

This card was not hard to make at all - the front lattice section folds back to reveal a back panel and a place to write inside.

I chose a jar with flowers for the front, along with a small sentiment. Some gold gems were placed around the image. Easy!

Enjoy,

Alyson

Stitched Twine Card

This card was created for the Alphabet Soup Challenge - letter J.

J is for jute twine. I pierced the holes along the insides of two pieces of cardstock. Stitching the pieces was really hard - keeping them the same distance apart was quite a struggle. I doubled up the twine and once the stitching was finished, I adhered the two sides to a card base with foam tape. The sentiment was embossed and added across the twine section. I added a small bow and a few gems to finish off the card.

Enjoy,

Alyson

Pair of Double Collar Fold Cards

This is a simple but cute fold on the front of a card - it provides an opportunity to use double sided patterned paper when you love both patterns on the paper.

I chose a blue and white pattern that is the same on the front and back but reverse colours. I chose the blue side for the folded part and the white side formed the background. I stamped an ombre sentiment from light to dark blue and adhered that to the front with foam tape. A ribbon was placed behind the sentiment and I added three coloured gems.

This was my first attempt but I got the papers mixed up and adhered the wrong side down the centre. I didn't want to toss the card so I finished it but the patterns don't show very well.

Enjoy,

Alyson

AH 680 - Birthday Purple Flowers

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 680!

The sketch is shown below.

I really liked this sketch so I used the same shapes and suggestions provided.

I chose black and white papers for the side elements and the centre strip. They were adhered to a light purple card base and I added thin silver strips to separate the sections. The oval was die cut from silver foil and white cardstock and I lightly inked the white piece. The flowers were stamped, stencilled and die cut and placed in the oval. I added two small sentiment strips and a few clear gems.

DD May - Music Note Card

Welcome to Dragonfly Dreams and our May challenge!

The theme for this challenge is to use die cuts.

I recently purchased a set of music dies and I always make thank you cards for the choir director and accompanist at my church as they work so hard!

I stamped a music note background and adhered that to the black mat on the card base. I die cut a circle from the front panel and then embossed it with a burlap embossing folder. I cut a second circle to fit inside the larger one to add some interest. The music pieces were stacked to add some strength and adhered across the open circle. The sentiment was also die cut and added at the bottom.

HQCOL May - Birthday Octagons

Welcome to Heart's Quest Celebrations of Love and our May challenge!

This is always a challenge for celebrations - birthday, engagement, wedding, anniversary or sympathy.

I chose to create a birthday card as I never seem to have enough of them on hand!

I used an octagon background die and cut that twice. I inked one panel in shades of purple and blue and adhered the two panels together. The card base was inked in the same colours but darker. The images were stamped, stencilled and die cut and I arranged them in the four corners. The sentiment was die cut from holographic paper and I added the word happy above the larger sentiment. Some clear gems were placed around the card.

Birthday Corner Flowers

The Sketchy Saturday challenge is one I like to do as often as possible.

The info is shown below.

I used a Spellbinders die set to cut the flowers and leaves. They were arranged around an offset panel on top of an embossed background. Easy but cute!

HQFSCAT May - Celebrate Cupcake

Welcome to Heart's Quest for Shaped Cards and Tags and our May challenge!

This is always a challenge for shaped cards or tags.

I made a cupcake shaker card for this challenge. I used a set of dies to cut the base shape and turned the top section into a shaker. The colours were determined by the shaker elements. The card stands up on its own and makes a perfect addition to a gift!

Cut It Up 355 - Rainbow of Butterflies

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 355!

The theme for this challenge is something with wings.

I chose butterflies for my winged option.

This is a card style I have made before but I had to find a photo from WAY back to use as a reference. I stamped 10 butterflies and added the internal colours using colours of the rainbow. I ink blended a piece of 6x6 cardstock using the same 10 colours. That piece was trimmed and added to a black card base. The blended panel was placed on top. I cut two circles from the next black panel and left an opening to show the rainbow. The butterflies were arranged around the larger circle and a white heat embossed image was added to the smallest circle. Whew - time consuming, but so pretty!

PS May - Postage Collage Butterflies

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our May challenge!

The theme for this challenge is to use one or more butterflies.

I used some of my Postage Collage products for my card.

The white base was die cut and I used the butterfly stencils to create the images in shades of pink and purple. I stencilled with gold Stickles for the bodies to add some sparkle. The front was adhered to a gold mat and then a purple card base. The sentiment was embossed in white and placed across the card.
