DT 215 - Friendship Bouquet

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 215!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I stencilled the background with light blue ink and adhered that to a gold mat and a white card base. The bouquet pieces were die cut, inked and assembled. I placed that on a blue oval with a gold frame and added the sentiment at the bottom. A few gold gems were placed around the bouquet. I brushed some of the flowers with a shimmer brush and added clear Stickles to the centres of the smallest pieces.

If you are wondering about how I met the requirements, here is the explanation:
3 layers in addition to the base - the bouquet alone is at least 8 layers deep plus there is a mat, a stencilled panel and two oval layers.
2 shapes/images - the oval is 1 shape (2 if you count the inside and the outline frame) and the bouquet is an image.
1 stencilled/dry embossed piece - the background was stencilled.

DT 214 - Flight with Joy

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 214!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I went to my stash of patterned papers and chose two patterns for the stripes as well as gold glitter paper. I splattered the white background with blue ink before adding the strips on the diagonal. The butterfly outline was die cut from gold foil and I pieced in all the tiny sections with coordinating cardstock. The sentiment was embossed and added at the bottom.

DT 213 - Bunny in Basket

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 213!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I die cut all the pieces for the bunny and assembled him. Once I die cut the basket, I realized the bunny was awfully large to fit in the basket... so it's an oversized bunny! The images were assembled and placed on a blue oval with a black mat. I also matted the plaid paper with black. A sentiment was added at the bottom and I used a white gel pen to add some details.
3 - die cuts
2 - colours
1 - sentiment

DT 212 - Ink Blended Deer Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 212!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

This was a quick and easy card to make! I ink blended a background using four shades of Distress Oxide ink. The black frame and two deer were die cut and I embossed the sentiment at the bottom of the frame. The images were arranged on the inked panel and I used a white gel pen to draw lines on each side.

DT 211 - Stack of Piggies

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 211!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose a blue, turquoise and pink colour scheme and stamped 5 piggies. They were coloured and I used a small dot stencil to add dots around the piggy stack. Patterned papers were placed on both sides and I added some rose gold tape to the front. The sentiment was placed on the right side and I adhered the card front to a turquoise mat and then a dark blue mat.

DT 210 - Stay Salty

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 210!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I embossed a piece of blue foil and added it to a piece of lighter blue cardstock. The was placed slightly behind two pieces of patterned paper. The bag of chips image was die cut, inked for dimension and assembled with the sentiment in the centre. I also die cut several chips and added "salt" to some of them. That was adhered to the front and the entire blue card front was adhered to a yellow card base.

DT 209 - CAS Thinking of You

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 209!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge blog for detailed information.

I wouldn't usually consider a coloured card to be clean and simple, BUT Thing 3 wants a colourful background... I chose a purple and mint colour scheme and die cut ribbon strands from light purple cardstock, Those were adhered to the mint piece and I added the dark purple circle flourish on top. I glued in the light purple centre pieces and added a stamped sentiment across the middle. No embellishments - just clean and simple.

DT 208 - You're So Cool

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 208!

The details are below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

The colours I chose were black, white, blue and yellow.

I masked a section of the card front and applied light blue ink and then clear glitter paste to imitate a body of water. Above that, layers of white glitter paper were adhered and I added clear Stickles between each layer (hard to see in the photos). The igloos and penguin were stamped, coloured and fussy cut. I arranged the igloos on the "snow" and placed the penguin on his chunk of ice in the water. A stamped sentiment was added at the top. I adhered the card front to a light blue card base.

DT 207 - Lemon Squeeze

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 207!

This challenge is all about shapes and colours. The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

This card was my fourth attempt... I really struggled with the "square" element.

I settled on a fruit based paper pack and chose eight different patterns. They were arranged around the outside of the card on white cardstock. I matted that piece on dark green cardstock and the same green paper was used for the large square mat. I splattered the white piece with green ink and arranged the lemon image on top. An embossed sentiment was added just over the lemon.

DT 206 - Lantern on Light Strings

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 206 - our final challenge of this calendar year!

This is a Something, Anything, Everything challenge. Choose your own 3-2-1 recipe.

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose 3 colours, 2 die cuts and 1 sentiment.

The background was created using my BetterPress and the lights were coloured using co-ordinating stencils. I die cut several things - the frame, the lantern, the bow and the hot foiled sentiment. Some of them were inked and then arranged on the card front and I added a gold gem in the centre of the bow. The card front was adhered to a black card base.

I stamped a large floral image and die cut it with a stitched rectangle die. The floral spray was coloured and I added a thin strip of black diagonal paper along the side. I wrapped black twine around the bottom of the card and tied a bow at the side. The sentiment was stamped and added near the bow. The card front was adhered to the card base with foam tape.

DT 204 - Hello There Slimline

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 204!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose to make a slimline card for this challenge. I have 3+ colours (purple, pink, yellow and turquoise), 2+ images (tons of flowers and leaves) and 1 slimline card. My colour element starts with T - turquoise.

I created a lattice background and had everything cut and ready - and then realized I needed a slimline size... so I made a second lattice background. I joined the two of them with a cross piece. The flowers and leaves were all die cut and adhered to the lattice background above and below the centre strip. The sentiment was placed in the centre and I added clear gems around the card. I also used a shimmer brush to add shimmer to the centres of the flowers.

DT 203 - A Little Birdie Told Me

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 203!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I created a background using circle masks and various shades of blue ink. All the die cut elements were cut from white cardstock and inked - very time consuming! I arranged the birds on a branch and placed the flowers and leaves around them. The sentiment was stamped in the top corner and I adhered the card front to a piece of blue cardstock. I added two tiny twine bows on each of the flowers.

DT 202 - Autumn Blessings

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 202!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge site for detailed information.

I used a swirling leaf stencil to stencil the background of my card (1 stencil) using red, orange and yellow inks (3 fall colours). I stamped, coloured and die cut (or fussy cut) the scarecrow, bird, mouse and two pumpkins (2 images). I also lightly inked the edges of the background in blue and green before arranging the images on the front. A sentiment was placed across the top and the card front was adhered to a black mat and then a white card base.

DT 201 - Poppy Blessings

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 201!

It's a Something, Anything, Everything challenge - but we ask that you identify your 3-2-1 items.

I used 3 layers, 2 colours and 1 sentiment.

The poppy images were die cut from vellum, gold foil paper and white cardstock. I carefully removed the white pieces and put them on sticky tape so I could ink them using shades of orange and yellow. They were pieced back into the gold outlines. I embossed the sentiment at the bottom of the cardstock panel and added a thin strip of gold cardstock. The poppies were arranged to cover the remainder of the card. I added some black gems in the open spaces.

DT 200 - Friend Doodles

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 200!

It's all about the doodles this week. The small graphic is below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I cannot draw. Period. I spent three days on some doodled cards and my frustration level was through the roof. Doodling is not something that I have ever done - not for fun, not as part of a challenge, never.

This card is probably the fifteenth card that I tried to make and I am still not happy with it. I watched countless videos about doodling before trying this. I finally chose to make random doodles on a strip of white cardstock and colour some of them in various shades of pink. That panel was adhered to a black mat and then to an embossed card front. The sentiment was added at the bottom.

This is another doodled card - one of my earlier attempts...

DT 199 - Tulip Aperture Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 199!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I wanted the image inside the aperture to stand out so I chose a black and white background. The aperture was die cut from the card base (plus two other layers) and I die cut a black frame to go around the opening. The tulip image was stamped and coloured and placed on the inside of the card so it shows through on the front when the card is closed. After I thought I was finished, I realized I had not included two images so I stamped, coloured and fussy cut a pair of tulips and added them at the side. The sentiment was adhered across the opening so it lifts with the front of the card.

DT 198 - Just a Note Fan Fold Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 198!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I have made several fan fold cards in the past (Thing 3). For this one, I chose a monochromatic colour scheme.

There are more than 3 layers, 2 patterned papers and one sentiment. I chose black and emerald green for the cardstock and black and white dotted patterned papers. The flowers and leaves were die cut from the same colours and I created a cluster of flowers around the sentiment. Clear gems were added to the front. The inside writing panel is also decorated.

DT 197 - Wonderful in Every Way Spotlight Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 197!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose to use pink, fuchsia and green for my card. The image was stamped in black on a stitched rectangle die cut. I stamped it a second time on scrap cardstock and stencilled the area I wanted to use for the spotlight. That was cut with a circle die and placed on top of the black image. The sentiment was stamped, die cut and stacked three times to add dimension. I also added bright pink thread under the sentiment. The card front was adhered to a black mat, a green mat and finally a fuchsia card base. Liquid Pearls were used to add a few black dots around the sentiment.

DT 196 - Rainbow Slimline with Animals

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 196!

The small graphic is below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I ink blended a background with several Distress Oxide inks and splattered it with water. That was die cut using a stitched slimline die. The inner circles were also die cut with a stitched die. The images and sentiments were stamped, coloured and added inside each of the open circles. I also die cut a thin circle outline to go around the centre circle. I matted the rainbow front to black cardstock and then to a white card base. Some black gems were placed around the card.
