Elephant Hexagons

This is another card inspired by one on the Sunny Studio blog.

I die cut six hexagons from a card front and placed coloured cardstock behind the openings. The elephants and balloons were stamped, coloured and die cut and arranged in the sections. The sentiment was embossed in white and I added a few tiny die cut stars.

Sending Smiles Baby Elephants

How sweet are these baby elephants? This card was inspired by one made for the Sunny Studio blog.

I ink blended the grass panel and die cut it in parts with an arch grass die. The sky was ink blended, splattered with oxide sprays and white paint and the grass panel was placed on top. I stamped, coloured and die cut the elephants, clouds and balloons and adhered them to the front and a sentiment was stamped in the corner. I used a black marker to draw the strings for the balloons. Everything was added to a stitched mat and then to the card base.

Winter Wishes Card

This card was made for the Sketchy Saturday challenge.

I stayed true to the sketch because it worked for my idea.

The focal image is from a Doodlebug Designs patterned paper and it features winter animals and characters. I designed the card according to the sketch and added a simple sentiment at the left side.

Napkin Cards 2

This is the second post showing napkin cards - all I added were mats and sentiments. These ones are all created for Christmas.

You Make Me So Very Happy

This card was created for the Sketchy Saturday challenge.

I reversed the panels (accidentally). I cut them, taped them together and stencilled those pieces. They were adhered to the card base and I stamped a sentiment on a white circle. That was adhered to a silver circle and I placed flowers and leaves as per the sketch.

Enjoy,

Alyson

Napkin Cards 1

I recently visited a napkin store and bought several packages of napkins and rice paper. They make such beautiful card fronts. I only had to create mats and bases and add sentiments to make complete sets of cards - fast and easy!

This is the first post showing a selection of these napkin cards. I made almost 100 cards in total - terrific to give away!

Blue Flowers Napkin Card

I was recently introduced to napkin cards - there are so many beautiful napkin images!

Once the napkin was adhered, I trimmed that panel and cut half inch wide strips. I raised every second strip with foam tape, working on a piece of printer paper. That panel was adhered to a green mat and a blue card base. I only added a hot foiled sentiment so the image would remain the focal point.

I have TONS of napkins already on paper - just need time to do something with them!

Just Becows

The parameters for the latest 30 Minute Card Making Stash Dash were as follows:

Type of Card: A2 landscape, Colours: any three colours, Embellishment: animal, Technique: splattering and Occasion: just because or no sentiment.

I chose a cow theme for my card. The cows were stamped, coloured and die cut. I splattered the blue cardstock pieces with white paint and layered them on black cardstock. The cows were arranged on the front panel and I stamped and cut the pieces for the punny sentiment.

My three colours were blue, pink and grey (the minimal shading on the cows).

Cats in Boxes

I recently purchased the cutest stamp set with images of cats in boxes. Two friends of mine are huge cat lovers so I made these cards for them. I cased this design from the Gerda Steiner design blog.

I die cut an oval from masking paper and ink blended a pink background and splattered it with water. The images were stamped, coloured and fussy cut. I stamped a sentiment in black and added the cat image on the left. Some twine was added across the top and the card front was adhered to the base with foam tape.

AH 686 - Rainbow Just a Note

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 686!

The sketch is shown below.

This is actually the second card I created for this challenge. The first one is shown further down the post.
I ink blended a background with Distress Oxide inks and die cut the frame. I also cut the frame from white cardstock to get the inside piece. I stamped a large sentiment on the white piece and adhered that and the frame to a black mat. I coloured several small white flat sparkly gems with markers to match the flowers and added them to the openings.

This was the first card I made...  used glitter gel on the flowers and added a die cut sentiment on a vellum panel.

Pink Flower Acetate Card

A friend asked me to create a special card for her daughter's birthday. I revisited a card I have made before.

The image was stamped, stencilled and die cut twice - one is inside. I die cut the background, added some shading to opposite corners and adhered that piece to a green mat and a pink card base. The flower was added along with a sentiment.

Inside the card, there is a piece of acetate with the second flower that folds down and is held in place by a second sentiment. I stencilled the background and added clear glitter paste on top. The bottom panel was stamped along the edges. There is a place to write a message on the back.

Birthday Wishes in Black and White

This card was from the 30 Minute Cardmaking Stash Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows:

Type of Card: 5x7, Colours: black and white, Embellishment: border, Technique: dovetail and Occasion: thank you or birthday.

I made a very simple card. The stamped panel has a branch at the top and a swing hanging from that image. I stamped the sentiment and dovetailed the ends of both the stamped piece and the black border. I adhered the stamped panel to a black mat, a piece of patterned paper and then to the white card base. A few black gems were placed around the sentiment.

Cut It Up 358 - Masculine Birthday

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 358!

The theme for this challenge is "one for the boys" (or men).

I chose a blue colour scheme and a clean and simple card design. I cut thin strips of blue cardstock and placed them across a white card base. The shadow of "happy" was die cut from a piece of white cardstock and I stamped Birthday underneath and coloured it in the same colours as the cardstock. That was placed over the stripes with foam tape. The word was die cut four times and stacked before being adhered inside the shadow. I added three diamond gems around the opening.

Come and join us at Cut It Up and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have until Monday, June 22 to link up your project.

Blooms and Bicycles

These cards are from the second class for the Let's Stamp Together subscription. I apologize for the shadows... the pictures were taken at night and the lighting wasn't good.

The first card has an embossed watering can as the focal point. The background was created by using tiny white die cuts and adhering them to a white cardstock panel. That panel was then inked to created the pattern and dimension.

The second card has a bicycle behind the two gate panels that open from the sides.

Trio of Kites

The alphabet challenge that I am doing has the letter K for the month of June... I chose to use kites.

The cloud background pieces were die cut and assembled with foam tape between the layers. The kites, strings, bows and the sun were die cut, inked (the kite pieces and the sun) and assembled. I arranged them inside the clouds and added a long sentiment at the bottom. The centres of the kites and the bows had clear Stickles applied to them.

Dogwood Celebrate Card

This card was created for the 30 Minute Cardmaking Stash Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows:

Type of card: A2 landscape, Colour: any 3 colours, Embellishment: crafter's choice, Technique: splattering and Occasion: get well soon or celebrate.

I die cut all the pieces for the dogwood image from coloured cardstock and inked them for dimension. The white background was embossed and spattered with black ink. I added strips of green cardstock and teal glitter paper along the left side and added the image across the card. I used several mats and added a hot foiled sentiment at the bottom.

Birthday Gatefold Card

I purchased the Gina K Designs Garden Gate die and it is perfect for creating gatefold cards like this one. I added a hook and loop dot to keep the front closed.

The gate was die cut from white cardstock and I added black panels behind each section. All the flowers and leaves were die cut and assembled on the gate and I added clear Stickles to the centres of the flowers. The sentiment was stamped, die cut and stacked three times for strength.

Inside the card, I ink blended a panel and used a stencil with white pigment ink to create the design. A second sentiment was stamped, die cut with an oval die and adhered to a black oval mat. The inside piece lifts up to allow a place to write a message.

Thank You for Being You Postage Collage Card

This card was cased from one on the Waffle Flower website.

I used the wavy lines stencil set to create the background and stamped wildflower and postage images in each section. I splattered the entire front with gold paint. The flowers and leaves were die cut and I added yellow ink to the flowers along with a gem in the centre of each. They were arranged around the card and a white heat embossed sentiment was placed off centre. The card front was adhered to a light purple mat with foam tape and then to a white card base.

You Are Beautiful Angled Card

This pretty card was made with bold colours.

The white background was die cut and placed on a green card base. The shadow word "beautiful" was partially cut from white cardstock and angled over the background. I added the bold pink letters to the shadow and stamped "you are" as well. A small floral arrangement was placed under the word and I added some iridescent gems around the flowers.

Rainbow Hello

This is one of my favourite designs, especially for mass production. It's easy to ink blend the left side of a card front using Distress Oxides. The image was embossed in black and I added two sentiments on the right side. The front was adhered to a black card base.

Rainbow Brick Card

This card is based on one I saw online - I love rainbows so a rainbow brick background was very appealing!

I stencilled the background with 8 oxide inks in a rainbow colour pattern. The butterflies and the sentiment were die cut from black cardstock and I added gold glittery bodies to the butterflies. The front was adhered to a black card base. I think it's quite striking!

Christmas Wishes Windows

I recently purchased this set of windows dies from Spellbinders - I have wanted it for some time!

There are tiny pieces in this set... and so many of them! I chose a blue and silver colour scheme and arranged all the windows and the elements on a paint splattered background. I used white glitter paper for the snow and added a bit of shading to the trees. The sentiment was hot foiled and placed at the bottom. I added some green and clear Stickles to the wreath, the plant and the trees.

Swinging Birthday

Sketchy Saturday is a challenge I like to do when I have some extra time. This one was fun as I chose a black and white colour scheme.

The papers are old SU papers and I added a black mat around the largest piece. The image was stamped in black and die cut with a circle, along with a mat piece. A small sentiment was added with foam tape. Easy!

Hope All is Well

This simple card was based on a sketch - I used 49 and Market papers.

I followed the sketch for the placement of the panels and die cut a stitched hexagon from vellum. The image is a rub-on that was die cut with a circle and I added a darker circle behind it, along with some silver metallic thread. The sentiment was added at the bottom of the circle. I used three colours of Liquid Pearls to add some dots around the card.

AH 684 - Beautiful Friend Flowers

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 684!

The sketch is shown below.

I chose a 3D embossing folder for the background, cut that piece into three even sections and adhered them to a white mat with foam tape. The turquoise circle was die cut and I added a white circle on top. The flowers were stamped, coloured and added in the centre, along with some open vellum pieces. A small bow was placed at the base of the flowers and I added a hot foiled sentiment. The flowers were brushed with a shimmer brush to add some sparkle.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret this sketch.
