SS 776 - Sending You a Squeeze

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 776!

I used the sketch as it is presented - it fit my idea perfectly.

The tag piece was cut to fit over the diagonal strip and I stamped and die cut a lemon image that was placed on a vellum oval. The sentiment was placed on the diagonal strip and I also added the two gold gems at the top. So easy!

SS 775 - Thinking of You Flower

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 775!

The sketch is shown in horizontal format - I flipped it 90 degrees to make a vertical card.

I stamped floral images around the edges of the largest and the smallest rectangles using inks to match the cardstock. Those two pieces plus the middle rectangle were all die cut using stitched rectangles dies. I drew a white line around the middle rectangle. The floral image was embossed in blue and coloured. It was die cut using a blanket stitched die and I fussy cut a light blue border. That piece was offset as per the sketch and I added a hot foiled sentiment across the bottom and a gem in each corner.

SS 774 - Piece of Cake

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 774!

I chose a birthday theme and used three patterned papers for the circles. The background was stencilled with confetti and I added Stickles to some of the dots. The cake image was embossed in blue, coloured and die cut. I didn't put a sentiment on the front as the cake explains the purpose of the card. There is a sentiment inside.

SS 773 - Thankful for You

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 773!

I stayed true to the sketch just because it worked so well for what I had in mind.

The white background was embossed and I tied a ribbon around that piece before adding it to a teal card base. I stamped, stencilled and die cut the flowers and added them to a lightly inked square piece. That was offset with another square and the sentiment was placed at the bottom. I finished off this cute card with three enamel dots.

SS 772 - Birthday Flowers

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 772!

I used a gold hot foiled background for my card. The flower box was die cut and I stamped the floral images and coloured them with Copic markers. The purple piece was embossed with a leaf pattern and I added a birthday sentiment in two parts.

SS 771 - Make a Wish

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 771!

The sketch has so many possibilities - I chose a floral birthday theme.

The background was hot foiled and I die cut a lattice backgound three times and stacked it. That was placed behind the pink oval and onto a lightly inked green panel. The leaves were created wth my BetterPress, coloured and die cut. I also die cut several flowers in shades of pick. They were added in two clusters on opposite ends of the oval. The sentiment was embossed in silver and placed on the right side and I added white gems to the flowers and silver Stickles to all the tiny holes on the large oval.

SS 770 - Friendly Ostrich

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 770!

The sketch is shown in horizontal format - I changed it to vertical to fit my image.

I made a square card and I used stitched dies for the inside pieces. In order to match the shape, I trimmed the corners off the card base and the first layer. The blue layer was stencilled with a clear glitter paste. The front piece was inked to create a sandy base and a cloudy sky. I stamped, coloured and die cut the ostrich and added him to the front. The sentiment was placed in the top corner with some gold twine underneath and five gold gems were placed along the blue mat.

SS 769 - Sending Paper Hugs

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 769!

I chose a variety of techniques to create my card.

The background was smooshed with three shades of Distress Oxide inks and left to dry. I used a hot foiled leaf panel for the long rectangle and I stayed true to the shapes on the sketch by die cutting hexagons and hearts. I stamped the inside hexagon piece with a leaf stamp and coloured it. The hearts were adhered around the hexagon and I added a two part sentiment on the left side. Some clear dew drops were placed around the card.

SS 768 - Sunflower Hugs

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 768!

This is a fun sketch but it took me some time to sort out the measurements...

I rotated the sketch to make a portrait style card and I chose a sunflower theme. The border pieces were adhered to a mint green card base and I placed a white rectangle in the centre. The sentiment was stamped at the top of that piece. I die cut and stencilled a large sunflower for the bottom corner. I added some gold sequins around the flower to finish off this card.

SS 767 - Congrats

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 767!

I created my own frame from black glitter paper and added a piece of bold patterned paper behind it. The stem images were die cut from both black glitter paper and green cardstock. The pieces were placed along the left side as per the sketch and I added a hot foiled sentiment across the bottom. Some gold gems were placed around the sentiment.

SS 766 - Joy Poinsettias

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 766.

The optional element (in addition to the sketch) is to use a tag.

I chose some standard red and green papers for my card. The wide centre strip is a sheet of Christmas songs and I added a border to each of the smaller pieces. Since the patterns are busy ones, I just added hot foiled sentiments to the two smaller panels. Some gold gems were placed around the card.

SS 765 - Merry and Bright

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 765!

This week, we are asking you to choose a sketch from the vault. Past sketches can be found on the Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog

The optional twist is to choose a sketch from 2014.

I chose Sketch 310 which is from 2014.

I cut four squares of patterned paper and light yellow cardstock and lined them up on a red background. A dark green line was drawn around those pieces. The centre panel was embossed in gold and coloured. I added some small poinsettia sprays in opposite corners and placed a sentiment across the centre with metallic thread underneath. I put a gold sequins in the centres of the flower to finish off this card.

SS 764 - Birthday Flowers

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 764!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to distress something.

I chose not to do any distressing - it's not a look I particularly like. I stencilled and die cut a gorgeous floral image and adhered that to a leaf embossed panel of black cardstock. I added two thin strips of green glitter paper to enhance the black. The sentiment was stamped on green cardstock and adhered under the flowers. I added some iridescent gems around the card to finish it off.

SS 763 - Christmas Window

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 763!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is sympathy.

I chose to make a Christmas card.

The window was Cricut cut and stacked three times. I die cut all the flowers and greenery and arranged them on the left side of the window. I added an extra poinsettia at the bottom right as per the sketch. A hot foiled sentiment was placed across the window and I added some gold metallic thread under that piece. The centres of the flowers were enhanced with red Stickles and I added some gold gems around the window.

SS 762 - Holiday Moose

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 762!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to use ribbon.

This is a traditional Christmas card - red and green. I arranged the green cardstock strips along the left side and adhered them to a red snowflake background. The moose was stamped, coloured and die cut with an oval die. I stamped and embossed the sentiment and added that off to the right side. Googly eyes were added to the moose and I used clear Stickles on his collar.

SS 761 - A World with Octobers

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 761!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to use orange.

I had a hard time with this sketch... I could only see a snowman's rear end for the longest time! I finally settled on some pumpkins and a large sentiment.

I created the blue background by scribbling on vellum with Copic markers. That was splattered with rubbing alcohol. While waiting for the background to dry, I stamped, coloured and fussy cut some pumpkins and branches. I also die cut a stitched border for the bottom. The vellum piece was wrapped around white cardstock and adhered to the card base. The sentiment was masked so the word Octobers would be in orange. I added the pumpkins at the bottom and placed three orange gems along the border piece. I used a blue marker to doodle around the border of the card.

SS 760 - Blue Birthday

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 760!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is "one for the boys".

Masculine cards are always difficult for me. I chose shades of blue and gold for this one.

The background was created using Magical Powders (dark blue and gold) and set aside to dry. I chose a light blue cardstock and a light turquoise as well as gold foil and gold glitter paper. The leaves were die cut from gold foil and arranged on the hexagon and I cut the light blue cardstock and gold glitter paper into the angled shape as per the sketch. The sentiment was stamped directly on the blue cardstock. I used light turquoise cardstock for the first mat and a dark blue cardstock for the card base. A few gold sequins were placed around the image and sentiment to finish off this card.

SS 759 - Birthday in Blue

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 759!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to feature a sentiment.

Since this is a pretty straightforward sketch, adding a large sentiment worked perfectly. I die cut two panels from blue cardstock and arranged them on a white card front. The sentiment was die cut three times and the letters were stacked. I used the die cut outline to place the letters evenly. The balloons wouldn't fit at the bottom (location of the flourish on the sketch), so I moved them to the top. The white card front was adhered to a dark blue card base.

SS 758 - Holiday Wishes

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 758!

The alternate theme (in addition to the sketch) is to use sequins.

I started by making a red background by blending red ink on white cardstock, splattering it with water and then using a coverplate die to add a pattern. The white panel was embossed with a brick background and I added a tree with garland pieces on top. The gifts were placed at the bottom and I added a white heat embossed sentiment. Some silver sequins were placed around the tree and the sentiment.

SS 757 - Sunflower Cluster

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 757!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to use summer colours.

I chose to use sunflowers to represent the squares on the sketch.

The background was embossed with a leaf embossing folder and I die cut the leaves and sunflowers from white cardstock. I inked all the pieces and assembled them on the front of the card. The sentiment was embossed in gold and adhered toward the bottom. I added some gold gems around the card and adhered the card front to a green mat and then a brown card base.
