Red Poinsettias with Brick Background

I am usually partial to non-traditional colours for Christmas but decided to go with a red poinsettia for this card.

The background was created using a strip placing technique and then adhered to black cardstock. It looks kind of like a brick wall which is why I chose to use red for the poinsettias. The flowers were stamped and die cut and I added a silver foiled sentiment at the bottom. Some silver metallic thread and iridescent gems were placed around the card.

Enjoy,

TSOT 582 - Thinking of You Critters

Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 582!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is sweater texture.

I decided to use two animals for the focal points on my card. I stamped the fox and the moose and coloured them before die cutting them into a circle shape. Two other circles were die cut and I offset them. The borders were stamped with tiny leaf images in two colours and the sentiment was stamped and dovetailed before being added to the bottom right side. I chose a background paper that looks like a sweater pattern. The last step was to add some gold Liquid Pearls around the images.

DT 125 - Sunflower Friends

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 125!

The colours of sunflowers - a perfect match for this week's challenge...

The small graphic is below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

There is a lot happening on this card - hot foiling, ink bending, die cutting, washi tape - the list goes on.

I started with a gold hot foiled background and cut a piece of patterned paper with similar shades of green to those in the sunflowers. The centre piece was ink blended with three Distress Oxide inks and splattered with water. I added a gold ribbon at the bottom of that piece and then placed the white circle die cut with the stamped sentiment to the right of the papers. The sunflowers are actually washi tape images that were die cut and added along the left side of the circle. A few gold glitter gems finished off my card.

I am also entering my card in the Inspiration Station Challenge.

AH 498 - Happiest of Birthdays

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 498!

The sketch is shown in horizontal format - I chose to create my card that same way.

I chose various shades of blue from both cardstock and patterned papers. I cut those pieces in different widths and dovetailed the ends. The were arranged on the bottom half of the card just below the centre line. I splattered a piece of white cardstock with three shimmer brushes and added it at the top. There is a slim dark blue border around the card. A piece of silver shimmer trim was placed over the centre line to cover the "working area". The sentiment was stamped in two shades of blue and I lightly blended some blue ink on that piece. Two more hexagons were die cut and layered behind the white sentiment piece and I added some silver metallic thread and silver glitter gems to finish off my card.

Believe in the Magic Ornament Card

This is my second card from the Holiday Online Card Classes.

The frame was die cut from the card front and smaller branch die cuts were placed along the edge of the frame on the back. That entire piece was adhered to a piece of blue cardstock and then to a card base. I stamped the sentiment along the edge of the ornament, shaping the stamp so it followed the same line. The ornament top was die cut and I threaded some metallic thread through the opening to make it look like the ornament was hanging. The inside pieces were brushed with a clear shimmer brush (that doesn't show well in the photo but it is very sparkly in real life) and I added some silver gems around the card.

Pinecone Fun Fold Card

I recently watched a tutorial by Lynn Dunn for this card - it's a neat idea with a surprise for the recipient.

The front was decorated in a mint green and brown colour scheme to work with the pinecones. The background of the card was stamped with shaded pine branches and the sentiment was die cut from gold foil and adhered at the bottom right. The centre of the card was cut out and I die cut the same piece from brown cardstock for the inside. I inked the front circle with mint ink and arranged the branches and pinecones on that piece. I added another pinecone inside at the top left and placed a piece of patterned paper inside. There is lots of room to write a message.

HLS Christmas - You're on the Nice List

Welcome to November's Christmas challenge at Happy Little Stampers!

As always, this is an anything goes challenge - the optional element is Santa.

I ink blended a blue background and splattered it with white craft paint. The border was die cut and I added pieces of black cardstock behind the openings. I die cut two pieces of white cardstock using stitched dies to form the snow. The images were stamped, coloured and fussy cut and I added them to the background and placed the sentiment off centre at the top. The last step was to add some clear Stickles to the tree and the snow.

CD 521 - Anemone Smiles

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 521!

Choose at least three colours from the graphic below - info regarding neutrals and other options are written beneath the colours.

I chose Melon, Mist and Seabrook. I die cut the flower pieces from both the light and dark sides of Melon cardstock and the leaves were cut from Mist and Seabrook cardstock. I inked the bases of the leaves and the top two layers of the flowers. The flower centres were cut in shades of grey and silver and a white gel pen was used to draw dots around the darkest grey layer. The background was die cut twice and stacked before being adhered to grey cardstock and then a black card base. I shaped the flower petals and added some dew drops to the images.

Traditional Poinsettia Gift Card Holder

I have been watching holiday card classes via the Online Card Class site and the instructions and ideas have been wonderful! This is a card that was shown on the first day.

There is a gift card embedded under all the greenery - I added a red tag on the back of the gift card and attached a smaller green tag with an embossed sentiment to the front. The poinsettia and some of the greenery had ink applied to the pieces using a brayer. Everything was layered and assembled and the last step was to splatter white craft paint on everything except the gift card components.

I just love this card - probably one of my favourites!

Enjoy,

Alyson

HLS Birthday - Burnin' Up the Cake!

Welcome to Happy Little Stampers - Birthday Challenge!

This is always an anything goes challenge as long as the theme is birthday.

I pulled out an old stamp set for my card. The image of the lady with the cake was stamped, coloured and die cut. I arranged three pieces of paper at the top so there was a point in the centre and adhered that to a piece of ink splattered white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in black and adhered that panel to black cardstock and then to the card base with craft foam.
