MTTC 540 - Apples for the Teacher

Welcome to My Time to Craft Challenge 540!

The theme for this challenge is "back to school".

Apples are always associated with teachers so I chose to use a couple of apples on my card.

The apples were stamped, stencilled and die cut. The background was created using patterned paper, a die cut scalloped border, a thin piece of black glitter paper and some red and white twine. I splattered the right side with a green shimmer brush and stamped a few hearts on that part. The apples were adhered with foam tape across the scalloped border and I added a die cut sentiment at the bottom.

Come and join us at MTTC and show us your back to school projects.

We can't wait to see what you create!

It’s Slim!

A friend of mine designs for Miss Ink Stamps and she has a rescue dog named Slim. The stamp company made a stamp about Slim - how cool is that?

Slim is such a handsome doggie with his bow tie and coffee cup. I adhered the fussy cut image to a white inked die cut with a black frame. The background was hot foiled with rainbow foil to provide a colourful but not overwhelming background.

Rose Postage Cards

I love the rose stencil from Waffle Flower so much! I die cut two white backgrounds and stencilled the roses onto the sections using the stencils. I added some dimension to the flowers and leaves by adding darker shades of the same colours. I stamped the postage images in various places and then went back with the third stencil and added solar paste or lunar paste for the small diamonds. The sentiments were embossed in white and added across each card.

TSOT 652 - Christmas Greetings

Welcome to Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge 652!

My card ended up being a LOT busier than I originally anticipated. The background was hot foiled in silver and I coloured the poinsettia images with markers. I added a silver die cut rectangle on top of the three strips and created a floral spray on that piece. The sentiment was embossed in white and added across the bottom. Some silver gems were placed in the centres of the flowers.

Sets of cards from SU Expressions of Kindness Kit

I recently purchased the Expressions of Kindness card kit from SU. It's a gorgeous kit BUT it is designed to make only 8 cards. Considering the cost of the kit, I wanted to get more out of it than just 8 cards. Rachel Tessman is a SU Demo and she did a video on how to cut up the card bases and envelopes to make the paper go further - to actually make 32 cards instead of just 8. I changed up a few small things but I love that I was able to get 4 sets of 8 cards each from this kit! This photos shows one of the four completed sets.

Dragonfly Dreams August - Sunflower Fun Fold Card

Welcome to Dragonfly Dreams August challenge!

The theme for this challenge is "my favourite things".

I love sunflowers so that is definitely one of my favourite things. They are so bold and vibrant!

I stamped, stencilled and die cut several sunflower images. The card was assembled and the sunflowers were added to each panel. There is a white piece on the last panel to write a message. The front panel has the sentiment which was stamped and the hearts were coloured. I added some flat gold sequins on each panel but they are thin so the card sits flat for mailing.

Come and join us at Dragonfly Dreams and show us how you interpret this challenge.

Fold Over Scene Card

This card is so pretty with the detailed scene paper. It folds flat for mailing as well.

I used some SU paper for the image and also die cut a branch to go on the side of the scene. The folding component was adhered to a horizontal card base and there is a panel inside to write a message.

MTTCC 92 - Half Wreath Card

Welcome to My Time to Craft Christmas Challenge 92!

The theme for this challenge is buttons.

I gave away almost all the buttons in my stash many years ago. I had a handful of tiny silver glitter buttons left but that was it. I used a layering stencil set and created two partial wreaths on a card front. The tiny buttons were added on the two wreaths and I placed a hot foiled sentiment with silver metallic thread at the bottom. The entire card front was adhered to a dark green card base.

Come and join us at MTTCC and show us your projects with buttons.

As an aside, as I was deciding what to do for this challenge, I misread the challenge itself and thought it was for the OTHER MTTC team. I made this card using some alcohol inked background pieces, leaves created with the Better Press system and a cute little grumpy pea.

Enjoy,

DT 172 - Rainbow Sunburst Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 172!

This challenge is all about happiness, positivity and being cheerful - colours, sayings, etc. The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

What can possibly be more cheerful than a rainbow? It lights up the sky after a rainstorm. I used layering stencils to create a rainbow sunburst. This stencil set overlaps some sections and leaves others white and I used a clear glitter paste on the top layer to add some shine. As hard as it is to believe, 24 inks (yes - 24!) were used to create this background. There is a photo of all of them below.

Once the paste was dry, I cut down the image and placed it on a black card base and the sentiment was embossed in white on black and added to the centre. I used red Stickles to colour in the hearts. Nothing else was added to this card - it gets the message across as it is!

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us your cheerful projects.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

I am also linking up my card with the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge.

PS August - Birthday Peonies

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles August Challenge! This is a new design team for me and this is my first project with them.

The theme for this challenge is florals.

I decided to make a fairly easy card with minimal layers. The peonies were stencilled in three corners using three shades of blue. I created a mask for the flower and then stencilled the leaves so they appear behind the flowers. That piece was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and it was adhered to a silver mat and then a blue card base. I stamped a sentiment in shades of blue and green and die cut it. I placed silver metallic thread behind that piece and added it at the top. Some silver gems were placed around the card.
