PS May - Postage Collage Butterflies

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our May challenge! 

The theme for this challenge is to use one or more butterflies.

I used some of my Postage Collage products for my card. 

The white base was die cut and I used the butterfly stencils to create the images in shades of pink and purple. I stencilled with gold Stickles for the bodies to add some sparkle. The front was adhered to a gold mat and then a purple card base. The sentiment was embossed in white and placed across the card.

PS April - Heart Smile Card

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our April challenge!

The theme for this challenge is something old, something new.

I chose old papers and a new die set (the hearts) for this challenge. 

This paper is from SU and I have had it for ages. Olive green is definitely not a go to colour for me but this was a good opportunity to use it up. I cut two pieces and placed a strip of gold down the centre. That piece was adhered to a light green mat and then a dark green base. I added thin gold ribbon behind the embossed sentiment and then placed three gold hearts around the sentiment.

PS March - Kind Soul

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our March challenge!

The theme for this challenge is multi-coloured florals. 

I chose an old stamp for my card. The image was embossed on a slight angle across the card front and coloured with markers. I also embossed the sentiment and used a black marker to draw lines around the card. I also added some black dots around some of the images.

PS February - Heart Vine

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our February challenge! 

The theme this month is hearts. 

I used a vine die but I altered it to accommodate all the hearts. This is a picture of the die cut in its original form. 

I cut off the edges of all the small images. The word "you" was die cut (I also cut the shadow but didn't use that). I was down to my last piece of dark green cardstock so I cut everything from the centre of that piece. That piece was used for the border of my card - shown below.

I added the hearts to the vine. The backgound was lightly inked with Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink and I added water to some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to splatter the card. The vine image was placed on the left side and I stamped the bottom of the sentiment before adding the word "you" on top. A few scattered hearts were placed around the sentiment and I used a clear shimmer brush to add some sparkle to the hearts.

PS - Warm Winter Wishes

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our January challenge!

The theme for this challenge is to use patterned paper. 

I had a lot of scraps from a winter paper pack and I cut them into various widths and arranged them on a piece of paper. That card front was adhered to a white mat and a dark blue card base. The sled and skates were die cut, inked and assembled and I brushed the skates with a clear shimmer brush. The snowflakes were die cut from glitter paper and I added a gem in the centre of each. A small sentiment was placed under the sled.

PS December - JOY Stitched Card

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our December challenge. 

The theme for this challenge is "silver bells". You must use silver on your project. 

I have been working on some stitched cards for Christmas and I really like blue and silver. The background was die cut from dark blue cardstock and I stitched the flowers with medium blue embroidery floss and the leaves with light grey embroidery floss. The small flowers were stitched with a medium grey embroidery floss. The centre letters were die cut from silver glitter paper and I added some clear gems in the centres of the small flowers. The stitched front was added to a snowflake embossed background and then to a dark blue card base.

PS November - Frosty Hello

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our October challenge. 

The theme for this challenge is "snow people".

This snowman stamp is one of my favourites. I stamped the background and coloured in the winter gear using shades of pink and turquoise. I used a white gel pen to add details and then added clear Stickles around the edges of the snowmen. The card front was adhered to two mats and then the card base. The sentiment was placed across the bottom.

PS October - Thankful Leaf Grouping

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our October challenge. 

The theme for this challenge is to use pumpkins and/or autumn leaves. 

I used my score board to score five lines along the left side of the card - those are hard to see in the photo. The background was splattered with yellow and red ink and adhered to a brown card base. The leaves were each stamped in two shades of ink and die cut. I arranged them, along with some gold branches, along the left side. A gold ribbon was placed at the bottom and I added a sentiment with gold metallic thread plus some gold gems.

PS September - Pink Birthday Hugs

 

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our September challenge. 

September is always a challenge dedicated to Traci - pink, pearls and/or glitter or sparkle. 

I chose the postage collage rose stencils to create my card. 

The roses and leaves were stencilled and I used silver glitter paste for the tiny diamonds. Postage images were stamped on the card and I adhered the front to a black mat and then a pink card base. The sentiment was embossed in white, cut into three pieces and adhered at the bottom.

Pearly Sparkles August - Pull Tab Fish Card

 

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our August challenge!

The theme for this challenge is under the sea. 

I made a card like this several years ago but it was perfect for this challenge so I redid it with some differences. 

The rays on the background were stencilled and I inked the entire piece with various shades of blue ink and spattered it with water. The rays are barely visible, as if you were looking up to the surface from underwater. The seaweed and fish were stamped, coloured and die cut. I also stamped some other images onto the background. Once the scene was arranged, I placed the inked piece on a black mat and a white card base with foam tape. The orange fish is on a magnet, along with the pull tab. When the tab is pulled out, the orange fish slides along the water.

PS July - Orange Lovebirds

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our July challenge. 

The theme for this month is to make a shaped card. 

I chose a horizontal oval. Aside from the sentiment, some light inking on the front and some inking on the birds, everything was die cut. The birds were assembled and placed on a swing with flowers and leaves in the background. I used a white gel pen to add details to the birds. The front oval was adhered to a yellow mat and a green card base. There is a white panel inside to write a message.

Pearly Sparkles June - Another Year Wiser

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our June challenge!

The theme for this challenge is masculine. 

I have had this owl die for a while and I love the effect it creates when all the layers are in place. I die cut everything in white and inked the pieces in shades of grey and blue. I added details with coloured pencils and a white gel pen. The owl was mounted on a leafy frame and I embossed the sentiment and placed it at the top. Some silver gems were added around the wreath.

Pearly Sparkles May Challenge - Friend Birthday

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our May challenge. 

The theme for this challenge is to use black and white plus ONE colour. 

I chose aqua to go with black and white. 

I die cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock as well as lots of leaf images. One leaf image was die cut from aqua cardstock. The leaves were arranged on the rectangle so the coloured one would be at the top. The sentiment was die cut from aqua and black and I also stamped and embossed a smaller sentiment to go under the word "friend". Everything was adhered to black cardstock and then to a white card base using craft foam. I added some white Liquid Pearls around the leaves.

PS April - Birthday in Blue

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our April challenge. 

The theme for this challenge is monochromatic. 

I chose a blue theme. I inked a panel of white cardstock with two shades of blue Distress Oxide ink and spritzed it with a mix of water and Perfect Pearls to give it some shine. That piece was embossed with a 3D embossing folder. I added a strip of blue cardstock with a white mat and die cut a leaf image to go on top. The sentiment was embossed in white and added at the bottom. I put Liquid Pearls on the centres of the raised design and matted the card front on white cardstock and then to a blue card base.

Pearly Sparkles March - Apple Basket

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and the March challenge!

The theme this month is anything BUT a card. 

Since I am an avid card maker, I had to find another project for this challenge. It's a good thing I have my Cricut machine! 

I chose to make an apple treat basket. The file was downloaded and I cut the required pieces. I added some ink to the leaves and I cut the apples from red glitter paper for more interest. I stamped a sentiment and placed it at the bottom of one of the apples. Easy!

Side of Hearts Card

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our February challenge!

The theme for this challenge is "love is in the air". 

I chose a turquoise and white colour scheme. The hearts were all die from various patterned papers and white cardstock. They were adhered together and arranged on the open side of the card (I cut away about 1 1/4" first). I added a strip of silver glitter tape on the front and adhered a larger heart with a sentiment with foam tape. Some silver gems were placed around the large heart.

PS Jan Challenge - Tiny Flowers

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our January challenge!

The theme for this challenge is "something old, something new". 

I chose an old embossing folder and a new set of dies for my card. 

The brick background was embossed on light grey cardstock and I lightly dragged a grey ink pad over the top to enhance the pattern. I blended shades of pink and purple on white cardstock and die cut the flowers from that piece. The other pieces were die cut from white and green cardstock. I arranged the flowers so the stems would meet near the bottom and the bow was added there. A heat embossed sentiment was placed off to the right side and I used iridescent Stickles in the centres of the flowers.

PS December Challenge - Four Panel Christmas Card

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles December challenge!

The theme for this month is Christmas. 

My Christmas cards were finished a while ago so this is an extra one that I will put aside for next year. 

The front panel was die cut (it is hard to see the rectangular pattern in the photo) and I lightly inked around the edges. A tree and gift images were die cut and added to that piece. 

Inside the card, there are four panels. The left side has an inked tree and a stencil was used to add green glitter paste to the open sections. I added that to an embossed panel and used clear Stickles on the raised "snow". The next two panels have a window die cut from them and I placed vellum behind the open windows. The wreaths were stamped and die cut and I added some greenery and a poinsettia at the bottom of each window. The last panel has the word MERRY die cut and paper pieced three times above the word Christmas. There is a panel on the back to write a message.

Pearly Sparkles November Challenge - Angels

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles and our November challenge!

The theme for this challenge is angels. 

I don't have many angel images and this one is a small one. I stamped the angel on white cardstock, coloured her and added gold Stickles to her wings. The smaller scalloped border was inked in two shades of blue and the larger one was die cut from blue glitter paper. They were adhered to a piece of holographic cardstock and I added a small sentiment at the bottom.

Pearly Sparkles - Cheer Gnome

 Welcome to Pearly Sparkles October Challenge!

The theme for this challenge is fantasy. 

I chose to use a gnome - a Christmas gnome in particular. That image was stamped, coloured and die cut and I also stamped and coloured a sentiment. Oval dies were used to frame the images. The backgound was created by smooshing cardstock into shades of red ink and then embossing that piece with a snowflake embossing folder. I used sandpaper to lightly sand over the raised images, leaving the white cardstock showing underneath. I added white and silver Liquid Pearls to the centres of the snowflakes and adhered the gnome and the sentiment to the front.
