TSOT 610 - Lighthouse Scene

Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 610!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is masculine.

I love this layering stencil from Concord and 9th - it creates a perfect lighthouse scene that is fabulous for masculine cards.

I stencilled each of the elements and cut that piece down before matting it on light blue cardstock. The border was created using an old punch and that was adhered to the dark blue cardstock base. The lighthouse scene was adhered with foam tape and I added a gold foiled sentiment at the top right.

Come and join us at TSOT and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Hello Fold Over Card

This card is based on a recent video by Jennifer McGuire - love the concept!

I hot foiled two large flower images and then stencilled them to add colour. They were fussy cut and I arranged them on the front of a top folding card base so they would overlap. I also die cut a patterned piece to go on the panel of the card that sits behind the flowers. There are two sentiments - one on the front and another inside. I used one of the same blue inks to drag across some white cardsotck to create the blue background. I added two hot foiled sentiments to those pieces. The card opens to allow a large place for a message.

AH 528 - Bold Flowers

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 528!

This sketch has so many possibilities! I chose to use a large floral stamp for my card.

The image was stamped and embossed in black. I coloured around the flowers with a black marker and then chose bold and bright colours for the flowers and leaves. The sentiment was stamped on yellow cardstock and adhered to the same pink cardstock that I used for a mat, There is also a bright green mat before the final black base. Aside from gold Stickles in the centres of the flowers, no other embellishments were added.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret this week's challenge.

HLS Christmas - Penguins

Welcome to Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge!

This is always an anything goes challenge but the optional theme this month is to create a scene.

I pulled out an adorable penguin stamp set from Gina K. Designs for my card. I stamped, coloured and die cut the penguins, the sled and the presents with a candy cane. The background of the card was stamped with snowflakes and heat embossed before I added blue ink to create a sky. The snowbanks were die cut and I arranged the sled and the penguins accordingly. I coloured in a shadow under each image and added a sentiment at the bottom. The edges of the hills were covered with Stickles to create some shine.

DD - Crocus Stems Impossible Card

Welcome to the June challenge for Dragonfly Dreams!

The theme this month is fancy folds - one of my favourite type of cards to make!

I chose to make an impossible card. There are many tutorials for his card type and I love that it folds flat for mailing.

I chose some alcohol inked patterned paper and based my colour scheme around that. There is gold running though the paper so that made a good background for the flowers. I die cut the flowers and leaves from shades of pink and green cardstock and used inks to give them more dimension, Those pieces were arranged on a gold background. I stamped the sentiment and added it across the centre piece. There is a place on the back to write a message.

Come and join us at Dragonfly Dreams and show us your fancy fold cards.

You have until the first Saturday of the month to link up your project.

SS 727 - Birthday Moose

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 727!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is masculine.

I used some old stamp sets to create the moose scene - I stamped the moose on masking paper and placed that over the stamped image on the card piece. The trees were stamped with various shades of green and once the mask was removed, I coloured the moose. The grass was hand drawn and then coloured. The background was embossed with a woodgrain embossing folder and I used stitched dies to create the top and bottom border pieces.

HLS Birthday - Purple Floral Arch Card

Welcome to Happy Little Stampers Birthday Challenge!

I always need birthday cards so I just love this challenge - it forces me to make birthday cards on a regular basis.

This one was a lot of fun - so many elements to it. I started with a hot foiled background and die cut an arch shaped from both white cardstock and the outline from black glitter foam. The white piece was lightly inked along the edges and the foam piece was placed on top. The flowers were stamped, stencilled and die cut and arranged around the arch. The sentiment was die cut from both white cardstock and more black glitter foam and adhered across the centre of the arch. I added some purple gems to finish off this pretty card.

CD 551 - Wonderful Day

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 551!

It's a triple play this week - you must use all three colours.

I had a hard time with this challenge - these are definitely not colours that I would put together. I created three cards (two will be shown here) and finally decided to use the last one that I made.

I die cut the same leaf shape twice from white cardstock. On another piece of white cardstock, I ink blended the three colours and splattered that piece with water. That was set behind the leaf cut piece on a black card base and I stamped a sentiment before adhering the front with foam tape. I added one of the die cut leaves back on the card front and added blue drops around the leaves.

This was my first attempt... I wove the white cardstock to the size I wanted and then coloured the flowers (white heat embossed on vellum) from the back. The sentiment was die cut and adhered with foam tape.

Come and join us at Colour Dare and show us how you use this week's colour palette.

MTTC509 - To the Wise One

Welcome to My Time to Craft Challenge 509!

Father's Day occurs in June so this week's theme is masculine.

I chose to use a gorgeous owl die cut set - all the details are die cut into the pieces and then it is layered. I die cut all the owl pieces from white cardstock and used shades of grey and teal to colour them and then used a grey coloured pencil and a white gel pen to add additional details.  Two hexagon frames were die cut and offset on a woodgrain embossed background. The sentiment was stamped and added at the bottom. Some holographic sequins finished off this card.

Come and join us at MTTC and show us your masculine projects.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

I am also entering my card in the Can You Handle the Pressure Challenge (embossing with a twist of birds or birdhouses).

We can't wait to see what you create!

Heart Pocket Card

This card is the result of another 30 Minute Cardmaking Stash and Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows: pocket card, black and white (may add other colours), (at least) three of a kind and crafter's choice for technique.

I used a digital image for the heart and selectively coloured the flowers (that's my technique) and each coloured one has Gold Stickles in the centre (at least three of a kind). I attached a white lace die cut to a stitched rectangle and adhered that to a black base. The heart was attached to the card so the top is open and there is a little tag behind the heart (pocket).

Enjoy,

Alyson
