AH 462 - Birdies on Branches Slimline

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 462!

We have a slimline sketch this week, although that certainly can be changed if desired. I wanted to do something a little different rather than using actual banners across the top so I chose to create branches with birds sitting on them.

The flowers along the bottom were stamped and coloured. I had to mask one side to make the image continue across the bottom of the card. The branches and birds were die cut and arranged above the flowers. A pre-made sentiment was adhered to the same blue cardsotck as the card border and placed at the bottom right. I brushed the flower centres with a shimmer brush but no additional embellishments were added.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

You have until Sunday evening to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Turquoise Birthday Blocks

This is the second post where I used the Geo Blocks hot foil plate. I posted a rainbow block card yesterday.

The background was foiled with a teal foil and then I coloured each of the blocks with markers. That pieces was trimmed and adhered to grey cardstock and then to a light turquoise base.

The sentiment was die cut along with two shades - one in light turquoise and the second in vellum. I used the vellum as a shadow above the sentiment. I also stamped the word happy to complete the sentiment. Some silver stars were added around the card.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Pewter Cardstock, Silver Foil, Vellum (CTMH), Turquoise Cardstock (Gina K. Designs)

Stamps: Celebrating You (CTMH)

Inks: Peacock (CTMH)

Accessories: Geo Blocks Hot Foil Plate (Pinkfresh Studio), Birthday Die and Shadow (Gina K. Designs), Star Shaker Dies (CTMH), Tri-Blend Markers, Teal Foil

Rainbow Geo Blocks

The Geo Blocks set from Pinkfresh Studio comes with a hot foil plate and a set of layering stencils. I used both for this card.

The blocks were foiled in silver and I masked off sections of the stencils to ink the blocks in a rainbow colour scheme. That piece was trimmed and adhered to yellow cardsotck, then to silver foil and finally to a blue base. The sentiment is from a package of foiled sentiments and that was adhered to the same two colours of cardstock. I added some tiny silver stars around the card to finish it off.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Lemonade Cardstock, Silver Foil (CTMH), Blue Cardstock (Gina K. Designs), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: none

Inks: Various colours of ink (Pinkfresh Studio)

Accessories: Geo Blocks Hot Foil Plate and Layering Stencils, Foiled Sentiments (Pinkfresh Studio), Star Shaker Dies (CTMH), Silver Foil, Thin Foam Tape

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 485!

Choose at least three colours from the graphic below. Black, white, gold and silver are free to use.

I used Sangria, Sage, Mink (plus black, white and gold).

The background was inked in Mink using a plaid stencil. I die cut an oval frame and adhered that to the card front. A sentiment was stamped and the flowers were die cut from Sangria and Sage cardstock. I added a small gold piece in the centre of each flower. Clean and simple.

Come and join us at Colour Dare and show us how you interpret the challenge shown above.

Woven Cards Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted a woven card and I created a couple of more of the same design. These are so fun to make - the center section is just woven white cardstock.

I stamped different images on each of the woven sections and then coloured them. They were splattered with coordinating shimmer brush colours. They were cut to fit just inside a stitched rectangle and adhered to a piece of patterned paper and then to the card base. Some coordinating gems were added on each card and the details on the flowers were brushed with either a clear or gold shimmer brush.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Ink Drops - Vivid Paper Collection (Craft Consortium), Hammermill White Cardstock

Stamps: Just a Hello plus dies (Pinkfresh Studio), Friendship is a Blessing, Stitched Florals

Inks: Intense Black (Hero Arts), Black Pigment Ink

Accessories: Celebrating You Foil Plate and Die, Gold Gems, Lavender Gems, Sapphire Gems (Pinkfresh Studio), Gold Foil, Various Markers, Shimmer Brushes - Clear, Gold, Avocado, Blue Belle, Bluebird, Green Apple, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

CAS Gold Hearts Card

This beautiful idea was originally created by Melinda Stearns for Crafty Meraki. I loved the effect and wanted to try it myself.

Pieces of gold metallic thread where adhered to the back of a card panel. The sentiment was gold embossed in the bottom right corner. I die cut two sizes of hearts from gold foil and adhered them randomly along the lines. Staying with gold, I added some gold gems as well. The last step was to adhere the card panel to a base using craft foam. Easy - but so elegant!

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Gold Foil (CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: For Every Occasion (CTMH)

Inks: Veramark

Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Gold Gems (PFS), Gold Metallic Thread, Craft Foam

Friend Hexagons

I love the colours on this card... they are so bold against the white.

The hexagon pieces were created by stamping and stencilling a large floral image and then die cutting it using one hexagon shape (multiple pieces). The pieces were arranged along the left side of the card. Some white leaves were die cut and added on the right side to fill in the white spaces. I used one of the same ink pads to colour a piece of white cardstock for the friend shadow. The white sentiment was adhered to that teal piece. Some clear gems were added around the card.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock (CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Miss Your Smile plus stencils (PFS)

Inks: Black (Gina K. Designs), Daydream, All that Jazz, Flirty Fuchsia, Grape Crush (Catherine Pooler)

Accessories: Friend die (Gina K. Designs), Fresh Foliage die (Memory Box), Stitched Hexagon dies (CTMH),  Glacier Gems (PFS)

DT 104 - Blooming Flowers Fancy Fold Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 104!

Happy Hoodie Hoo Day! If you aren't sure what that's all about, be sure to check out the Double Trouble website for more information as it is related to the challenge.

I chose to create a Double Accordion Display Fold Card. The closed card is 6" x 6" but it opens to be much longer than that.

Several colours of cardstock and patterned paper designs were used to create this card. The patterned papers on the front were embossed with a scalloped pattern to match the blue scalloped patterned paper inside the card. I stamped a watering can with flowers as that is a perfect sign of spring to me! The sentiment was stamped under the image in various coordinating colours. There is a panel on the back to write a message.

I stamped a second watering can and die cut that image for the belly band. I added a few tiny flowers and some coloured sparkles on the band. No embellishments were added inside so the card folds flat but I did brush some images with a clear shimmer brush.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us how you interpret this week's challenge.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

I am also entering my card in the challenge at Creative Creases

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Bright Stack Patterned Paper, Cardstock - White Daisy, Carolina, Bluebird, Raspberry, Lemon, Emerald

Stamps: Where Happiness Blooms plus dies

Inks: Raspberry, Pixie, Lemon, Willow, Carolina, Bluebird

Accessories: Coloured Flowers, Bitty Sparkles, Clear Sparkles, Clear Shimmer Brush, Sharpie Markers (not CTMH)

Slide Out Panel Card

I saw this card style in a Facebook group and it wasn't hard to figure out.

The base was folded over and adhered together along the edges but a portion of the front was cut away. I did that with a scalloped border die. I cut the same image from different cardstock and layered it on top. The images were stamped, coloured and die cut to create the design on the front.

The inside panel was cut in various size rectangles and a small sentiment was added to part of that piece so it overhangs the edge and lines up with the right side of the card. I added some green twine and gems to the card and also brushed parts of the sunflowers with a gold shimmer brush.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Cardstock - White Daisy, Sundance, Fern, Kraft

Stamps: Joyful Sunflower plus dies, Short and Sweet

Inks: Fern, Intense Black (Hero Arts)

Accessories: Decorative Borders Dies, Fern Twine, Gold Shimmer Brush, Tri-Blend Markers, Stitched Nested Label Dies, Basket Weave Embossing Folder (SU), Champagne Gems (PFS)

Time for a Donation of Cards!

I make SO many cards... between design team work, teaching in my Facebook group and showing others techniques one on one, that results in a massive number of cards that I simply can't use. I send a lot myself because I love to brighten the days of others but I just cannot use all of them.

I spent some time today sorting all of my cards. I contacted two retirement residences in the city and they said they would be thrilled to have these cards for the residents to use. I made sure each card had an envelope and packaged them into two groups - 112 cards in each! That's 224 cards for donation - and that is only what I have created since about mid-November!

I know they will be put to good use and that makes me happy!

Alyson

Blue Layered Roses

The background for this card was hot foiled using a blue patterned foil. That determined the colours I used for the roses along the side.

The roses were created using a series of layering stencils. I used Catherine Pooler inks as they are very bold and they retain the deep shades of colour even after they are dry. The floral panel was die cut and adhered to the left side of the foiled base. I added a silver foiled sentiment at the bottom and a few silver glitter gems around the flowers. The darkest lines of the flowers were brushed with a clear shimmer brush.

There are two photos - one shows the card from above but that pictures didn't pick up the foil well. The second photo shows the card taken from a different angle.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock (CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: none

Inks: Something Borrowed, Suede Shoes, Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt, Tiki Torch, Orange Twist (all Catherine Pooler)

Accessories: Rose Blossoms Stencils and Dies (The Ton), Celebrating You Foil Plate and Die, Abstract Triangle Foil Plate, Solid Foil Plate (all PFS), Silver Glitter Gems, Clear Shimmer Brush (CTMH), Blue Patterned Foil, Silver Foil, Thin Foam Tape

You are Loved Coneflowers

This beautiful set of coneflower dies has my heart - they are so much fun to use!

I die cut two sets of flowers and leaves. The flower pieces were cut in various purple cardstock shades and adhered together. The leaves were placed under the flowers. The background was die cut from a stitched lattice die and layered onto a piece of purple cardstock. I added some yellow ink around the top section of each flower and adhered a foiled sentiment at the bottom. Some gold metallic thread and gold gems were added to the card.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Cardstock - White Daisy, Eggplant, Pansy, Thistle, Lilac, Fern, Sundance (all CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: none

Inks: Mustard Seed DO Ink

Accessories: Coneflower Dies (Honey Bee Stamps), Stitched Lattice Background Die, Gold Glitter Gems (CTMH), Celebrating You Foil Plate and die (PFS), Gold Foil, Gold Metallic Thread, Thin Foam Tape

Rainbow Foiled Hello

The background for this card was hot foiled using rainbow foil and a leaf hot foil plate. Using the same colours from the foil, I chose various colours of glitter paper and adhered strips diagonally to a scalloped frame.

The floral image was stamped on vellum and embossed in black. That was adhered to the side of the frame and a sentiment was placed in the lower right corner. Some metallic thread was added under the sentiment and I added some gold gems around the frame.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Vellum, Glitter Paper - Green, Teal, Capri, Purple, Pink, Red, Gold (all CTMH), Hammermill White Cardstock, Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Just a Hello plus dies (Pinkfresh Studio)

Inks: Versamark

Accessories: Stitched Scalloped Rectangles, Lush Vines Hot Foil Plate, Gold Gems (Pinkfresh Studio), Pink Metallic Thread (misc.), Thin Foam Tape, Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Rainbow Foil (Spellbinders)

I used both the sketch and the see through element (shaker card).

The dark brown border was created on my Cricut and I chose papers from an old paper collection for the background. The sentiment was also Cricut cut and brushed with gold shimmer. I added some gold metallic thread and peach sequins on the front of the card.

AH 460 - You are Beautiful

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 460!

I had a hard time with this sketch initially but I was able to work with it to create a card that makes me very happy.

The front was stencilled in a very light grey and I die cut a bracket shape from green cardstock. The flowers were arranged over the right side of the bracket and I die cut the sentiment from both vellum and silver foil. That was arranged so it fell over the flowers on the right side. I stamped the words "you are" on the bracket. The card front was adhered to a grey base with craft foam and I added some silver gems to the centres of the flowers and around the card. The dark flower lines were brushed with a shimmer brush for added shine.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

You have until Sunday evening to link up your project.

Woven Floral Card

I saw this unique card style in a FB group and the card was created by Karen Dunbrook.

I started by weaving together several rows of white cardsotck. The image was stamped and then coloured with markers. I used a few shimmer brushes to splatter the background and I trimmed the woven panel to fit just inside a stitched rectangle frame. That was adhered to a patterned paper background and finally onto a white card base. Some purple gems were added and parts of the image were brushed with a clear shimmer brush.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Ink Drops - Vivid Patterned Paper (Craft Consortium), White Daisy Cardstock (CTMH), Hammermill White Cardstock

Stamps: Stitched Florals (CTMH), Just a Hello plus dies (Pinkfresh Studio)

Inks: Intense Black (Hero Arts), Versamark

Anemone Cards

I posted some cards using a coneflower die a few days ago... these two cards use the same kind of layering dies except the flowers are anemones.

The background for the first card was stencilled using Distress Oxide ink. That same ink, along with a few others, was used to ink the flowers and leaves. I arranged the flower to the left and added a black embossed sentiment and some clear sparkles.

The second card has the same flowers but they were only inked along the edges. I used the same purple inks to stencil hearts at the top and bottom and placed some white shimmer trim across the edge of each stencilled area. A black embossed sentiment was added along with some dew drops.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Hammermill White Cardstock

Stamps: Just a Hello stamp and dies (Pinkfresh Studio)

Inks: Black Pigment Ink (CTMH), DO Inks - Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, Lucky Clover, Hickory Smoke, Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers

Coneflower Shaker Cards

I haven't created a shaker card for quite a while... been working on other projects. I recently purchased the coneflower die set from Honey Bee Stamps and wanted to try it out.

The dies layer together to create a beautiful flower. I die cut enough pieces for two flowers and inked one in pink and the second in purple. The flowers were assembled and I then worked on the shakers. One is a square and the other is a scalloped rectangle. I lightly inked the background using yellow ink (although it kind of looks green in the photos) and stamped the sentiments. Coordinating sequins were added to each shaker and the flower was adhered at the top.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Love Story Paper Pack, White Daisy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Wisteria Cardstock (CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Create with Heart (CTMH), Sentiment Collection (Penny Black)

Birthday Wishes Slimline

This beautiful card was inspired by one created by a fellow team member from a design team where we are both members. Kellianne's card was created in shades of pink and I used shades of teal.

I die cut a slimline rectangle and a scalloped circle. A second circle was die cut and temporarily placed on the rectangle so I could ink around it. The tiny hearts were cut on my Circut and adhered just under the circle. I stamped, stencilled and die cut some flowers and added them around the sides of the circle with a sentiment placed at the bottom. Some turquoise gems were added around the card.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock (CTMH)

Stamps: Beautiful Blooms plus layering stencils and dies (Pinkfresh Studio), Easy Expressions plus die (The Ton)

Inks: Black (Gina K. Designs), Versarmark, Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove, Tidal Pond (Pinkfresh Studio)

Accessories: Stitched Slimline Rectangle dies (Pink and Main), Stitched Scalloped Circle dies, Ocean Breeze Gems (Pinkfresh Studio), Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Thin Craft Foam, Heart SVG file (Scrapbook and Cards Today)

Diamond Rainbow Card

I found this card design in a FB group that I visit. The artist is Mellisa Mills Johnson and she created her card with a sunflower theme. There were no measurements available so I figured them out on my own.

I chose a rainbow theme for my card. The rainbow papers are from a 6x6 paper pad and I added yellow, black and white cardstock (as well as the cardstock to create the rainbows). The yellow cardstock on the front was stamped with tiny hearts using the same colour of ink but that is very hard to see in the photographs.

The rainbows were die cut and adhered to a light blue inked piece of cardstock. I stamped a sentiment on the front. The triangular inside panel has tiny hearts stamped in the coordinating ink colours and the word "rainbow" was die cut from a piece of rainbow paper. I outlined it in black to bring it more to the forefront. The back panel has another die cut rainbow and a place to write a message.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Rainbow Brights Paper Pad (Sunny Studio), Cardstock - White Daisy, Black, Lemonade, Nectarine, Candy Apple, Capri, Willow, Pansy, Wild Berry

Stamps: Always Loved, Rainbows plus dies (SCT)

Inks: Black, Carolina, Lemonade, Nectarine, Candy Apple, Capri, Willow, Pansy, Wild Berry

Accessories: Rainbow Builder Die (Heffy Doodle), Black Fine Tip Marker

DT 103 - Sending You a Big Hug

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 103!

The small graphic is below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information about this challenge.

I chose to use pink, purple, mint and yellow from the colours in the image. I stamped a long floral image and coloured it using those same colours. I carefully die cut around that image with a stitched rectangle die so there would be an even edge on all four sides (and then I covered the bottom edge... 🙄) The border was die cut in mint and I added a piece of bold pink cardstock underneath. The tiny hearts were the leftover pieces from the border die cut and they were placed around the top section of the card. I brushed the yellow sections of the flowers with a yellow shimmer brush.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us how you interpret this week's challenge.

I am also linking up my card with The Inspiration Station Challenge

Thinking of You - Blossoms and Berries

This card has a foiled background and uses more of the washi tape from the Blossoms and Berries collection.

The background was foiled using a chevron hot foil plate. The gold foil has a tiny pattern on it and I used the same foil to create the sentiment.

The images were die cut and added to the corners of the foiled piece. That front was adhered to an embossed white piece and then to the card bae. I added some gold metallic thread under the sentiment along with a few gold gems.

Products used are Pinkfresh Studio unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Black Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock (CTMH), Hammermill White Cardstock

Pink Foiled Background Cards

I am still learning a lot when it comes to hot foiling... it truly is addictive, though.

The backgrounds of both these cards were created with a hot foil plate. One was the original foil pate and the other (the solid one) was the result of a solid foil plate that uses the leftover foil from the first attempt. Both were made using the washi tape from the In The Meadow collection.

The first card uses the leaf images from the washi tape. I die cut the foiled background with a stitched rectangle and adhered the leaves. The sentiment was embossed in black and adhered to the lower right. I entire front was attached to an embossed pink base with craft foam.

The second card was also die cut using the same stitched rectangle die and the flowers and leaves were adhered in a half wreath shape. The sentiment (also embossed in black) was adhered to the front and I added a few black dots around the wreath.

Products used are Pinkfresh Studio unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Wild Berry Cardstock (all CTMH), Hammermill White Cardstock, Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Celebrating You plus dies

Inks: Black Pigment Ink (CTMH)

Accessories: In the Meadow Washi Tape and die, Lush Vines Hot Foil Plate, Abstract Triangles Hot Foil Plate, Solid Hot Foil Plate, Pink Foil (Spellbinders), Stitched Rectangle Dies (GMD), Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Black Dots (CTMH), Craft Foam

Fold Over Card

This is what I call a fold-over card. The side opens to reveal the main image and then the bottom folds down to reveal a second image and a place to write a message.

The background patterned paper is from a paper pad that replicates alcohol inked backgrounds. I paired that with gold foil and purple cardstock. The images were stamped and coloured with markers. I didn't add any embellishments but I did brush the flowers with a clear shimmer brush.

For the first time in a long time, I also decorated an envelope by including an insert and decorating the flap.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Ink Blot - Vivid (Craft Consortium), White Daisy Cardstock, Pansy Cardstock, Gold Foil (CTMH)

Stamps: A Million Little Things, Sentiments and Stitches (CTMH)

Inks: Intense Black (Hero Arts)

Accessories: Stitched Rectangle Dies (GMD), Clear Shimmer Brush (CTMH), Tri-Blend Markers, Copic Markers, Touch Markers
