Trio of Shaker Cards

 I had some tiny beads in my stash and wanted to try them in some shaker cards. I usually use sequins so this was a bit of a change. I used only sequins for the middle card.

Each of these cards has an open cover plate die used on the front. A piece of acetate was placed behind the die cut and the cards were built from there. Those tiny beads... and I mean TINY - rolled everywhere when I was adding them to the card before placing the see through piece on top. I had beads everywhere - in my lap, on the floor and all over my desk! After the first card, I built the other two inside my embossing powder container and it contained most of the beads. 

I aded a sentiment to each card and inked the edges before adding the shaker element but I kept them pretty simple.

MTTCC 64 - Hippo Trio

Welcome to My Time to Craft Christmas Challenge 64!

The theme for this challenge is Christmas animals. 

I used a trio of hippos for my card. The hippos were stamped, coloured and die cut. I die cut two stitched borders from white shimmer paper that I used for the snowbanks. They were set on an ink blended background which was also splattered with white paint. The hippos were arranged on the snowbanks and the sentiment was added at the top. I used red Stickles on the berries and silver Stickles for extra interest in the sky. Some of the coloured sections were also brushed with a clear shimmer brush.

Blue Daisies Fun Fold Card

 This card is the result of another Tuesday Evening Cardmaking Stash and Dash. 

The parameters for this week's challenge were as follows: 

Card Style: "other" fun fold card (cannot use an accordion card, an easel card or a gatefold card)

Colours: blue and yellow (can use other colours but those colours should be the focus)

Embellishment: woodgrain 

Technique: torn paper 

I made a card that I have made before - it's an easy step card. The daisies were stamped, stencilled and die cut. I used a panel of woodgrain paper behind the daisies and yellow patterned paper for the other backgrounds. The sentiment was stamped in two shades of blue and partially die cut (at the top) so I could tear the bottom (torn paper). A few blue glitter gems were added to finish off the card.

Stencilled Roses

 These cards were designed the same way - one in pink and the other in purple. 

The images were stencilled and I added some darker details at the bases of the flowers and leaves. I used a black pen to draw stitching lines along the edge before adhering the stencilled pieces to coloured cardstock and then a black card base. The "miss you" sentiment is hot foiled in black and the other is heat embossed. I added some coordinating gems to each card as well.

HLS Christmas - Joy Wreath

 Welcome to Happy Little Stampers - Christmas for the month of July! 

The optional theme this month is "twinkle".

I used some shimmery cardstock for the flowers and silver foil paper for the leaves so that's the shimmer (twinkle) component. The wreath elements were all die cut and arranged around a silver embossed sentiment on vellum. I embossed the white background with a holly embossing folder and adhered it to a turquoise border and then to the white card base. A silver gem was placed in the centre of each poinsettia and I added Liquid Pearls to the berry branches.

TSOT 614 - Blue Blooms Card

 Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 614!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is camping/campfire. 

I opted to use only the sketch this week. 

The background paper is from a paper pack and I chose shades of brown, grey and green for the banners. The flowers were die cut from blue cardstock and inked for dimension. I lightly inked a hexagon with grey ink and set it on a brown border. The flowers were arranged on the hexagon and I added an embossed sentiment across the centre banner. Some brown enamel dots finished off this pretty card.

AH 532 - You are Enough

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 532!

I did something a little different with this week's sketch...

The banners on the sketch weren't something I liked so I chose to create floating hearts on twine for that element. The sentiment was stamped using seven colours of ink to create a rainbow. That was die cut and I used the outline image as a border. I inked that piece in the same seven colours and did the card base the same way. The sentiment piece was backed with foam tape and I added the twine for each heart set to that so they would sit directly under the sentiment in the same rainbow order. The black piece was embossed with a crackle-like embossing folder and the layers were put together. I added a few dew drops around the card.

HLS Birthday - Acetate Leaf Front Card

 Welcome to Happy Little Stampers - Birthday Challenge. 

This is always an anything goes challenge as long as the theme is birthday. 

I saw a card similar to this one on Pinterest and wanted to try it myself. I cut the card base approx. halfway down and also cut a narrow piece for the bottom. I used a stitched die to add interest to both of those pieces. A leaf die was cut several times and I arranged the pieces on the back of the card. I had to add a few extra images along the sides to fill in the gaps. A piece of acetate was placed over those leaves and I glued more leaf images on the back to hide all of the adhesive. The flowers and leaves were die cut and I added them to the leaves. A heat embossed sentiment was placed just above the acetate.

DD July - There's Snowone Like You

 Welcome to Dragonfly Dreams and our July challenge! 

The theme this month is Christmas in July. I don't know about you but this is about the time I start working on Christmas cards so this challenge is a good one! 

I chose to create a snowman slimline card. The background was inked with three Distress Oxide inks, splattered with water and then white craft paint. The outline was die cut from that piece. I stamped three snowman images and coloured them in shades of turquoise. The were arranged on circles that fit in the openings along with a piece of teal cardstock behind each image. That same teal cardstock was used to create a border for the card and I added a stamped sentiment. Parts of the images were brushed with a clear shimmer brush and I added some iridescent gems to finish off this card.

SS 729 - Make a Wish

 Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 729!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is celebrate. 

It took me a few tries to decide what to use for the lines on the sketch and I finally decided to stencil a design using only selected lines from the stencil. I chose a colour scheme of turquoise and blue. I originally stamped and coloured the ballon image in the same colours but it was lost against the background so I redid it in shades of yellow and orange. I added a hot fold sentiment across the stencilled lines and a secondary sentiment underneath. Some gold Stickles were added around the card. I adhered the card front to dark blue cardstock and then to a partial gold piece on two sides only before adding it to the card base.
