Little Mouse Book Binding Card

Craft Roulette last Friday offered some challenging parameters on the spinning wheel... these were the requirements:

- book binding card, blue + purple + silver + one colour of choice, rodent and vertical stripes

I decided to pull out some reward stamps from CTMH that I have had for a while - there is a collection of several little mouse stamps and they were perfect for this challenge.

This is a standard size card except the "binding" at the side makes the working area a square shape. I cut several stitched scalloped circles in different colours (I used pink as my extra colour). The circles were arranged in the various colours and the mouse image was stamped on white in the centre. That image was coloured and a sentiment was added at the bottom. I cut some thin cardstock strips to add to the left side (vertical stripes) and also added some twine around the binding section.

The inside was stamped with some hearts and coloured in the same colour scheme as the front.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Cardstock - White Daisy, Pansy, Carolina, Ballerina, Silver Foil Paper (CTMH)

Stamps: Little Mouse Wishes, Little Love Mouse, For Your Heart, To My Bestie (CTMH)

Inks: Intense Black (Hero Arts)

Accessories: Stitched Scalloped Circles (Pink Fresh Studio), White Twine, Pink Twine (misc.), Silver Glitter Gems (CTMH), Silver and Pink Metallic Thread, Markers, Black Fine Tip Marker

Smiles with Roses - Craft Roulette

I like to play along with Craft Roulette on Friday evenings and you have until Sunday evening to link up a project.

There are always 4 parameters for each challenge. Last week, those parameters were as follows:

    - card using patterned paper

    - any 4 colours

    - smile or smiles

    - tone on tone

I pulled out one of my favourite new stamp sets from The Ton Stamps and stamped these gorgeous roses in shades of pink. The leaves were stamped in two shades of green. All pieces were die cut and set aside until I had the base ready. That was splattered with the same Shimmer Brush colours - Black, Raspberry and Green Apple. I added strips of paper along the left side - two of them are tone on tone patterns. The roses were added and a sentiment was die cut from black and white papers. I added some pink Pops of Colour around the roses and brushed the darkest part of the flowers with the Clear Shimmer Brush.

Craft Roulette can be found on You Tube every Friday evening (730pm ET) and it's a lot of fun to watch the guests create a card using the parameters.

Craft Roulette - Piggy Slimline

The Craft Roulette challenge always provides some interesting parameters which must be used to create your project.

This week, those parameters were as follows:

- slimline card (slimline card done)

- blue plus two (I used blue plus pink and yellow)

- critters (I used piggies)

- confetti (shaker filling is confetti)

The "These Little Piggies" stamp set is so cute - and that fit for the critter component. I stamped three of the piggies, coloured and fussy cut them. I also die cut some hearts from Ballerina cardstock. The frames for the shakers were die cut from some stitched squares and I added bright pink sequins inside each. This card came together pretty quick.

Check out Craft Roulette every Friday evening at 730pm ET on You Tube!

Floating Gatefold Card - Flower Girl

I have created a few cards in this style but I was watching Craft Roulette on Friday evening and the parameters this week fit this type of card perfectly.

The parameters this week are:

- fancy fold card (floating gatefold)

- any four colours (I used light pink, a shade of purple plus turquoise and teal)

- floral cluster (lots!)

- dry embossing (woodgrain folder)

I embossed the front Lagoon panels using a woodgrain embossing folder. The border images were stamped and coloured on every panel. The complete image was used for the front of the card and just the top part with the flowers was used to stamp the inside squares. I stamped two of the sentiments from the stamp set and coloured parts of them in as well. The larger flowers were brushed with the Clear Shimmer Brush and I coloured some sparkles and added them to the flowers on the front.

Inks: Intense Black, Archival Black

Craft Roulette - Leaf Shaker

I like to play song with the Craft Roulette challenge each weekend - here is the info for the current challenge which is open until Sunday evening.

This week, the challenge parameters at Craft Roulette are as follows:

- circle(s)

- orange plus two other colours

- plant(s)

- stencil

It looks like a lot but it really isn't that difficult... aside from the fact that orange is not my first choice of go-to colours!

Orange works very well with blue so I decided to use turquoise and add silver as my third colour.

The background was inked using two blue shades of Distress Oxide inks. I then placed a Cricut cut stencil on top and covered that with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. While the stencil was still on the paper, I spread Moon Dust Glitter Gel on top. Although that product is clear, it takes on the colour of the ink so here, it turned a silver colour. That piece was then set aside to dry.

In the meantime, I stamped two leaves and coloured them in a two-tone colour scheme. They were die cut and the shaker was also assembled. The inside of the shaker is a piece of silver foil paper and the sequins are all orange, turquoise and silver. I stamped a small sentiment as well.

Once the background piece was dry, I adhered some adhesive foam to the back and die cut it. The shaker was then embedded in the card front. I added the other elements, tied a bow at the top of the leaves, brushed the leaf centres with the Clear Shimmer Brush and added a few enamel gems.

Trillium Slimline - Craft Roulette

Friday marked another episode of Craft Roulette and the parameters this week were as follows:

    - slimline card, black and white plus one other colour, a bouquet and dry embossing

I had to think about how I was going to add flowers with just one colour - the leaves and the flowers presented a problem. I decided to use trilliums and although their leaves are green, for this purpose, they are black :)

I cut several trilliums on my Cricut and adhered the pieces together. Since the centre of trilliums (Ontario's provincial flower) are yellow, that was my added colour. I embossed the background piece with a woodgrain embossing folder and then layered the flowers on the left side. I die cut a sentiment from white cardstock three times and stacked it. The centres of the flowers were brushed with the Clear Shimmer Brush.

Craft Roulette is every Friday 7:30pm ET at on Facebook or you can catch the reply on You Tube. It's always a fun challenge!

My Favourite Human - Craft Roulette

I have been watching Craft Roulette most Friday evenings and the challenge this week was one that really interested me. The expectation for each episode is to create a project using the four parameters that are provided. This weekend, those parameters were as follows:

- circle(s)

- Kraft or tan paper

- something that makes you happy

- bright pink + two other colours

I knew right away that I wanted to use flowers as I love creating with flowers and they do make me happy. Regarding a circle, I figured I could manage a circle shaker and pink is a great colour for flowers. Kraft... not my favourite, but I could make it work.

I started by creating a wreath using Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder stamp and template. Once that was complete, I die cut the centre from the wreath and splattered the outside with Raspberry and Green Apple Shimmer Brushes. I mounted the wreath piece along with a piece of green paper on a Kraft background. Some ribbon was added along with a couple of strips of coordinating paper. The shaker was stamped and cut into the card front. I added some tiny pearls that I coloured to the centres of the flowers and a few sequins to finish off the card.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Bright Stack Paper Collection, White Daisy Cardstock, Kraft Cardstock, Raspberry Cardstock, Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Craft Roulette - Leaf Shaker

This week on Craft Roulette, the challenge included the following components:

- A2 card

- monochromatic

- leaves

- craft paint

Craft paint was unusual - and it took me a while to find mine (I knew I had some... somewhere). I found white craft paint and mixed it with the Lagoon Shimmer Brush to splatter some white cardstock. That was then used to die cut the two leaves. Inside the shaker, I inked the cardstock with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink and splattered some water mixed with Liquid Pearls to provide some shine.

Monochromatic was easy - turquoise is my favourite colour so I pulled some supplies in that colour. The sequins are turquoise and clear but the lighting makes them look purple...

If you want to join in on Craft Roulette, the challenges are a lot of fun and often make you think outside your comfort zone. The episodes air on Facebook on Friday at 6:30pm (CT) and they are also available on You Tube (just search Craft Roulette).

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Dotty for You patterned paper, White Daisy Cardstock, Lagoon Cardstock, Turquoise Glitter Paper

Stamps: A Little Sentiment

Inks: Lagoon, Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink

Accessories: Circle Shaker Thin Cut, Leaves Thin Cuts, Petals and More Thinlets (SU), Liquid Pearls (not CTMH), Water, White Craft Paint, Turquoise Ribbon (SU), Turquoise Sequins (misc.), Lagoon Shimmer Brush, Turquoise Glitter Gems, Foam Tape
