Pinkfresh Studio Card Event - Day 1

I recently participated in a virtual event run by Pinkfresh Studio. There were five formal classes over two days, each using different products. The cards tended to be quite dimensional and I did opt to avoid that in some cases, but the images are beautiful!

These are the cards that were created on Day 1 of the two day event. The products used are currently not available but some will be released in the future. That's one of the benefits of these events - getting new product before the public!

AH 476 - Pink and Purple Peonies

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 476!

I followed this sketch very closely - it worked for what I had in mind.

The grey background is a subtle patterned paper and the pink piece is a hot foiled leaf background. I stencilled the peonies in shades of pink and purple and added them to the foiled piece. A silver hot foiled sentiment was placed just below the flowers and silver gems were added around the card. As a last thought, I cut thin white strips of cardstock and placed them as a border around the foiled piece to give it more emphasis.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

You have until Sunday evening to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

New Home Congratulations

A friend of mine recently moved across several states to a new home. It's always nice to congratulate someone on their new place and that was the purpose for this card.

Most of the card pieces were cut on my Cricut. I chose various colours for the elements and did a lot of cutting and pasting to cut only what I needed. "Congrats" was inked in four colours and die cut. The flowers were stamped, coloured and die cut before being added under the window. I also drew in the bricks on the chimney.

Inside the card, there is a white house-shaped panel with a sentiment stamped in the centre. I also drew little flowers around the edges and outlined the writing are with a thin marker.

Double Trouble 113 and TSOT 559 - Moose in Plaid

Welcome to two challenges - Double Trouble 113 and Try Stampin' on Tuesday 559!

Since I am on the design team for both of these challenges, this is a single post as Double Trouble is pairing with TSOT for this challenge.

The small graphic for Double Trouble is below, along with the sketch for TSOT. Please visit the websites for detailed information.

My card has all the elements for the Double Trouble challenge - masculine and plaid (x2) - plus it is linked with the TSOT challenge as a design team member. I used a Kraft card base and added a blue plaid background and a blue/green plaid cross piece. The image was stamped and coloured and I die cut that along with a green border. That same green was used as the side piece and glitter paper in the same colour was used to outline the plaid cross piece. The sentiment was stamped right on the patterned paper and I added two white hearts at the top.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and TSOT and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Happy Birthday Tag Opening Card

This card is deceptively easy looking... it took me much longer to make than I expected.

I began by die cutting white cardstock twice with a background die to add stitched detail on the card. I neglected to line up those pieces before I cut the frame from one piece - consequently I had a background piece that didn't quite line up with the front and I had to adjust that accordingly. The cardstock strips were adhered to double sided tape and then arranged on the background piece in a random manner. The open frame front was adhered to the base with foam tape and the sentiment was die cut and added across the centre. I stamped the word Birthday and placed it at the bottom. Some gold gems finished off this card.

Sunflower Friend

This beautiful sunflower card was CASEd from one made by Carissa Wiley. I love the detail inside the circle.

The front panel was die cut with a scalloped circle die. The piece of lilac cardstock behind was lightly shaded along the circle edges. I die cut two lattice dies and offset them to create a tighter lattice pattern. That piece was cut and adhered to the lilac cardstock before the front panel was adhered with foam tape. The sunflowers are from a set of washi tape and were die cut and arranged along the left side. The sentiment was hot foiled in gold and I added some gold metallic thread underneath. A few champagne coloured pearls were added around the card.

CD 499 - Diamond Parade

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 499!

Choose at least three of the colours from the grid - note the colours that are free to use.

I used all five colours plus white and gold.

All those diamonds were die cut (each cut leaves five graduated pieces). I mixed and matched the pieces so no diamond had repeating colours and they were all glued onto white diamond bases. The diamonds were arranged on a card front, leaving a white space at the top right. I used two of the individual diamond cuts to layer under the hot foiled sentiment. A floral image was die cut from gold foil and added on top of the diamonds and I placed a small bow at the base of that image. A few gold gems were added and the card front was adhered to blue cardstock and then to the base using craft foam.

Come and join us at Colour Dare and show us how you use the colours from the grid shown above.

Raised Strips Card

I have seen a few versions of this card around - it took me a couple of tries to get it to work correctly.

Having made one of these, I would use a stamped image the next time. This particular stencilled image doesn't have defined lines or a lot of colour detail.

I stencilled the images twice on two separate pieces of cardstock. I tried to keep the stencil in the exact same place on both. One panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and adhered to a piece of blue cardstock and then to the card base. The other was cut to a smaller size and then into alternating small and wide strips. The smaller strips were removed and the remaining ones were added on top of the first image with foam tape. I stamped a sentiment in the corner and added a few coordinating gems around the raised sections.

That Special Friend

This card was inspired by one I saw in a private Facebook group.

The background was created using a stencil and texture paste. Once that dried, the floral images (pre-cut ephemera) were added to the front and the sentiment was stamped in dark green (the same colour as the base cardstock). I added three large clear gems to finish off the card.

We Rise Fun Fold Card

This is such a simple fun fold design - I decided to use some of my favourite patterned papers to make it.

The right side folds partially over the left side, covering the centre of the writing section. I stamped and coloured some flowers images for that side piece and added the sentiment there as well. Once the card is open, you can see the writing panel. I stamped tiny images along the edges, just to add a little more interest. Some coordinating gems were added to the front of the card to finish it off.

Enjoy,
