Double Trouble 83 - You're Un-FROG-etable!

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 83!

Since a fun fold card is required for this challenge, I decided to do a Double Diamond Fold card. I first made one of these a few years ago when a friend of mine posted the instructions on her website. You can find that link here. 

The card front allows a decent space for the focal point. The frogs... I didn't have any stamps with frog images and had to borrow one from someone. The frogs were all stamped, coloured and fussy cut. I cut the lily pads from some Nestabilities dies and cut a V out of each. I also inked the edges of each lily pad and inked some of the top to add interest. The frogs were placed on the various lily pads and some were mounted with thin foam tape. There is a panel on the back where a message can be written.

Double Trouble #60 - Something, Anything and Everything

It's the 5th Monday in the month and that means that there is a one week challenge at Double Trouble - a something, anything, everything challenge. 

If you are so inclined, one of the twists is to use red, white and blue on your project as it is Independence Day in the US. I'm not from the US but still managed to complete this task :) 

We also encourage you to link up up one or more of our previous challenge partners - the entire list with links can be found on the Double Trouble website. 

I chose to create a birthday card that is appropriate for a masculine birthday. It seems like whenever I need one of these cards, I always have to create it at the last minute. 

I began by creating my blue background by taping down a piece of watercolour paper and painting it blue. I then dropped small droplets of rubbing alcohol onto the painted surface. Just before it was dry, I used a paper towel to wipe across the surface, making the circles darker and the background lighter. If I had left it to dry on its own, the result would have been the opposite effect with the circles appearing lighter in colour.

My card design is based on a sketch from Make It From Your Heart - Vol. 4. I rotated the sketch 90 degrees and added my side piece and some banners. The sentiment was stamped on stitched circles and adhered to regular circles of cardstock. The word birthday was stamped and cut as a banner along with a piece of cardstock cut the same size - they were mounted slightly offset. I added 3 acrylic hearts and drew a border around the edge of the card to to finish it.

Double Trouble 57 - Kraft and Red

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 57 - Week 2!

The basic expectations are the same this week as they were last week except that our partner challenge, Crafting Happiness, has a different expectation. 
For their challenge, red must be used.

Sometimes my brain just doesn't process everything... I completed this card and as I was taking the pictures, I realized I had used red but no Kraft! Luckily I was able to remove the card front and add some Kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock behind that piece. I also added some tiny little Kraft hearts to my card. Just not paying attention...

My card is CASEd from an Altenew card that used the same stamp and die set. After trying to line up the images using acrylic blocks, I finally gave up and went to my stamp press. I masked the lowest poppy to stamp the leaf over top. The card front is mounted on Kraft, black and finally the white card base.

Double Trouble 57 - Kraft and Kids

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge #57!

It's a "krafty" challenge this time around - the main theme is to use Kraft cardstock in your project. Please see the image below for further information - and if you require any clarification, the complete description is on the Double Trouble challenge site.

Our partner challenge (Crafting Happiness) runs one week challenges so there are two weeks of entries possible. Week 1 is a kids theme and Week 2 is a red theme. This post is for WEEK ONE. 

Kids theme plus Kraft (week 1)

I never have occasion to create cards for kids so this was a challenge for me. I decided to use a punny stamp set with ewes - there are lots of ewe images and puns that go with them. This is the 

birthday one...

I layered 4 pieces of Sapphire patterned paper on a Kraft stitched background. The ewe was stamped, coloured and die cut. The sentiment was heat embossed for some added interest. After placing the centre rectangle straight, I decided I liked it better on an angle. The corners of the the sentiment were rounded and I added a few white dots.

Spooky Envelope

Welcome back to the Double Trouble Challenge!

This post is for the second week of the current challenge where I am a Guest Designer for the month of October. There are multiple parts to each challenge - Things 1, 2 and 3. Only Thing 1 is required to participate but it is always fun to try to incorporate all the elements of each section into your project. 

Thing 1 - "Don't leave. Come bat. Let's hang out!" All you have to do is choose at least three (3) of the seven (7) colours from my rainbow of All Bat Colours and create a project. In addition, black, white, gold and silver are free to use.

Thing 2 - Link up with the Crafting Happiness challenge. Watch the dates as the requirement for these challenges change each week. We are now on WEEK 2!
Oct. 21-27 - #19 - Halloween Colours - the Halloween colours don't have to be that of a Halloween project, just the colours of the event.

Oct. 28-Nov. 3 - #20 - Halloween - anything Halloween (cards, tags, treat bags, etc.) 

Thing 3 - "Thing 1 has bats in her belfry and is driving me batty!" 

Include something in your project that flies... bats, crows, butterflies, witches, batman, the raven "nevermore", or bat-ever you want. 

Since the link up with Crafting Happiness requires a Halloween card, I had to go to my Cricut as I don't have Halloween stamps. There are some great images there and I chose to create an envelope card with a card that slides out. The "envelope" part has a large cobweb on it and I adhered the word "Spooky" to that. Googly eyes and open mouths were added to each of the 

letter Os.

The inside card base was inked with 3 blue inks. I then added the Cricut images to form a frightful scene. The inside fits perfectly in the cobweb envelope.

I chose to create a non-Halloween card using blue, yellow, orange and light brown as my colour scheme. I have also included two birds (things with wings) and I will link up my project with the Crafting Happiness challenge for the first challenge week. 

I created the background using a large stamp. I inked it in three shades of blue first and then inked it again in Versamark so I could emboss it. The birds were stamped and cut out, as was the sentiment. I outlined the birds to give them more definition and coloured a small gem in blue for each of their eyes.
