At the Zoo - Studio J

Dave and I spent some time in Florida last spring and he made me go to Gatorland. The last time I was there was when I was 11 years old with my family. I am terrified of snakes but am ok with gators and crocodiles so as long as we stayed away from the snake displays, I knew I would be alright. He had been there as a young boy but between the two of us, neither had any real memories of our previous visits plus several things had changed in the many years since we had last been there.

As expected, there were alligators everywhere you looked! Dave had to hold one, which is the main photo on the left page. It was actually a pretty interesting place to visit and both of us learned a lot about reptiles in general.

Kelsie as a Puppy - Studio J

I am away for a few days, visiting family but I wanted to leave some posts for my faithful followers.
This layout is of my little dog, Kelsie, who we just recently lost. These were taken when we were picking him out from the litter. He was just three weeks old at the time. I thought he was the most beautiful puppy I had ever laid eyes on and I could not wait to bring him home!

Studio J - Love Story

I don't use Studio J very often but this is one of the layouts that I prepared for the Convention package that we were provided. I really like the way it turned out. Surprisingly, the papers are actually patterns from the Mischief Paper Pack (last year's Halloween papers which I didn't even purchase...) It really is amazing what you can do in Studio J when it comes to changing colours to suit your needs! I used a lot of the stitching options on this layout as well - am really loving that option!

Extravaganza - Layouts

These are the layouts that I had on display at Extravaganza. Only one is a traditional paper layout - the rest were created in Studio J. Because we had access to Studio J ahead of time, we did not receive the J-Pegs for these layouts, so they are photos of the layouts. For the paper layout, I have shown the full layout plus photos of each page as well, so you can get a closer look. The supply list is at the bottom of the page. You can always double click on any item to get a closer look.

Detroit Regionals - Studio J Layouts

I got home from Detroit earlier this week - learned a lot at Regionals and will post the artwork that I completed later this week.
Meanwhile, here are the other three Studio J layouts that I completed as part of the 5 pack we received. The new techniques really tested my patience, but I sure learned a lot in the process.
For this layout, we were to take a photo and enlarge it at least 200% and then fit it into the bottom 6 photo wells. It took some maneuvering to align all the parts but it worked. I like the effect and it's a great way to use this layout if you don't have enough photos to fill all the photo wells.
This was the layout that caused me so much frustration. We had to create our own argyle - I don't even LIKE argyle! It was done by creating a text box and tilting it so it would line up with the next box (yeah, right...), then add stitching and copying and pasting... sure... I ended up doing most of mine individually. Anyways, it got done.
The last layout was all about learning to stitch around a photo and then copy and paste it around another photo. It actually went pretty quick once I figured it out. I like the way this one turned out. The new stitching options are awesome!
If you haven't used Studio J lately, get in there and try it out! You can try it out FOR FREE! Just go to my website by clicking the Shop with Me link on the left side of my blog and click the Studio J tab once you get to my website. There is absolutely NO obligation unless you decide to purchase a layout. You can play all you want for free!

My Kelsie - as a Puppy

I am hopefully heading to Detroit next week for the Regional Celebrations and we had to complete 5 Studio J layouts within certain parameters. I learned a lot of new skills doing these layouts and some caused me a lot of frustration, but here are two of them to give you some ideas of what we had to complete.
This was my favourite! It was done using the Wonderland papers. It shows Kelsie, my doggie, when we were picking him out from the litter.
The second one features Typeset, a paper pack I am not particularly fond of, but was able to use to feature more of Kelsie as a puppy (I did all my layouts featuring my dog...), but I changed some of the features that were suggested to fit my theme a bit better). Initially, I deleted a photo well and had to redo the entire layout... it was a lot easier the second time around!

Studio J Layouts

The two layouts below were created using CTMH's Studio J
online scrapbooking program.
The first layout is of me and my friend, Amanda, at Convention 2010 in Washington D.C. I took the photo booth pics and turned them to black and white before separating the strip into individual photos to add to this layout. You can see how seriously we were taking the entire event!
As always, click on the picture for a closer look!
The second layout is of my nephews... they are growing up so fast, it's frightening. In the past, I have created albums for each of them and now do a yearly calendar album instead of the individual albums.
I just wasn't able to keep up with all the photos and events!

Studio J Layout

I attended the CTMH Toronto Regional Celebration in April where we were asked to create a Studio J layout. I chose to do mine with some ski photos from this past season. I don't get out skiing very often any more, but my husband is a member of the Ski Patrol, so he is out there every weekend.
I tried my hand at gathering ribbon for this layout - a matter of placing ribbon tabs overlapping each other and then offsetting them a bit. I like the effect.
