Birthday Shaker - Glitter Alcohol Ink Background

It's that time... time to create cards for the birthdays that are coming this year. 

Although this one appears simple, it's the background that took some time. It was created using white glitter paper and alcohol inks. Alcohol inks will generally move around a fair bit but they sit in one spot on glitter paper unless a lot of blending solution is used. Even then, working quickly is required as the inks don't move around nearly as much as they do on other types of paper. This background was created using turquoise and blue inks along with a silver mixative. 

I wanted to focus on the background so I chose a simple card design - just the birthday shaker with coordinating sequins and a few simple embellishments. The shaker was cut from holographic paper.

4 My Friend - CASE This Sketch Challenge Card

Another card challenge! It feels so good to get back to doing these again :) This challenge was one that didn't take long as I knew after I looked at the design team's take on the sketch that what I had in mind would work perfectly. I love flourishes and the "Swirls Around" stamp set was perfect for this challenge. Five flourishes fit almost perfectly on a standard card size and then the sentiment could go in the middle. 

So that's another one completed and I had fun - maybe yet another tomorrow if I find some more time!

Happiness Card - CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge

I haven't used Flirty paper in a while and it was calling me this morning, especially when I saw the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch Challenges. This is a new site for me but I really like their sketches and decided to try out one of them. I knew I wanted to mask flowers for the sketch. I also turned the sketch upside down and put my sentiment at the opposite end.

I didn't do many of the Workshops on the Go from this catalogue but I sure love the Flirty WOTG Scrapbook Workshop stamp set - I keep going back to that set for a variety of things.
