Cut It Up 325 - Birthday Cupcake with Light

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 325!

The theme for this challenge is happy birthday.

I knew right away what I wanted to do - birthday cards can be a lot of fun to make and this one was no exception.

The background was stencilled, cut into three sections and placed on a black background. The cupcake and candle were also stencilled and die cut. They were arranged on a black frame and I added some Stickles to the dots and stamped "make a wish" across the icing before brushing that section with a clear shimmer brush. A heat embossed sentiment was placed under the cupcake.

I cut out the candle flame using a craft knife. A piece of vellum brushed with yellow ink was placed behind the opening. A light was placed behind the candle flame and the card front was adhered to the base with foam tape. I added a piece of cardstock with the word PUSH on it. When that is pushed, the light comes on behind the candle flame. I love it and it is always such a surprise for the recipient!

Come and join us at Cut It Up and show us your birthday projects.

You have until Monday, March 17 to link up your project.

We can't wait to see what you create!

Enjoy,

Alyson
