Rainbow Brick Card

This card is based on one I saw online - I love rainbows so a rainbow brick background was very appealing!

I stencilled the background with 8 oxide inks in a rainbow colour pattern. The butterflies and the sentiment were die cut from black cardstock and I added gold glittery bodies to the butterflies. The front was adhered to a black card base. I think it's quite striking!

Christmas Wishes Windows

I recently purchased this set of windows dies from Spellbinders - I have wanted it for some time!

There are tiny pieces in this set... and so many of them! I chose a blue and silver colour scheme and arranged all the windows and the elements on a paint splattered background. I used white glitter paper for the snow and added a bit of shading to the trees. The sentiment was hot foiled and placed at the bottom. I added some green and clear Stickles to the wreath, the plant and the trees.

Swinging Birthday

Sketchy Saturday is a challenge I like to do when I have some extra time. This one was fun as I chose a black and white colour scheme.

The papers are old SU papers and I added a black mat around the largest piece. The image was stamped in black and die cut with a circle, along with a mat piece. A small sentiment was added with foam tape. Easy!

Hope All is Well

This simple card was based on a sketch - I used 49 and Market papers.

I followed the sketch for the placement of the panels and die cut a stitched hexagon from vellum. The image is a rub-on that was die cut with a circle and I added a darker circle behind it, along with some silver metallic thread. The sentiment was added at the bottom of the circle. I used three colours of Liquid Pearls to add some dots around the card.

AH 684 - Beautiful Friend Flowers

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 684!

The sketch is shown below.

I chose a 3D embossing folder for the background, cut that piece into three even sections and adhered them to a white mat with foam tape. The turquoise circle was die cut and I added a white circle on top. The flowers were stamped, coloured and added in the centre, along with some open vellum pieces. A small bow was placed at the base of the flowers and I added a hot foiled sentiment. The flowers were brushed with a shimmer brush to add some sparkle.

Poinsettia Inlay Card

Today marks a big change for me. I am so busy that I have decided to leave nine of the eleven design teams that I have been on for quite some time. I am staying on my two favourite teams (Atlantic Hearts and Cut It Up). I am hoping that this change will allow me more time to work on projects without it feeling so much like a job!

-----------------

I am working through an Alphabet Soup Challenge this year - every month has a new letter and a project is to be made using something that begins with that specific letter of the alphabet.

This is my project for the letter I - inlay technique and ink blending.

I die cut the poinsettia images from gold and white cardstock x3. The gold outlines were adhered to a piece of white cardstock. I kept the inside pieces together and inked blended them with shades of red. I also traced the lines with a red Copic marker. They were pieced back into the gold outlines. I cut two thin strips of cardstock and placed them under the poinsettias. A hot foiled sentiment was added at the bottom.

White Anemone Wedding Card

A friend asked me to create a wedding card for her grandson's wedding. She wanted something elegant but preferably white.

I chose some dies from Gina K Designs and die cut the frame and the lattice background. I embossed a card front with a 3D heart folder and placed the frame on top with a gold panel underneath. The flower and leaves were die cut, assembled and added in the corner. I embossed the sentiment and placed it across the card.

Cut It Up 357 - Friendship is a Special Gift

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 357!

The theme for this challenge is friendship.

I die cut a detailed background from white cardstock and trimmed off about one third of it. That was adhered to a grey card base. The floral image was stamped, coloured and die cut. It was placed across the bottom of the card and I added some shimmer to the centres of the flowers. The sentiment was stamped, die cut and placed at the top. Clear sparkly flat gems were placed on the die cut background to add some sparkle.

Lemon Column Card

This is such a fun card and not at all difficult. It's all about the scoring - and it folds flat to 5x7 for mailing.

I chose some old lemon themed patterned papers. Once the panels were cut and the paper adhered, I stamped the lemons and die cut them. They were added to a piece of acetate on the front panel so they appear to be floating. I added clear Stickles to the dots on the lemon - they look like shiny gems in the photo... The sentiment was placed at the bottom. The column piece was built on a 5x7 card so there is lots of room for a message inside.

Birthday Gatefold Card

I love the actual gate on this gatefold card! Those pieces were die cut and attached behind the white cloud piece. I stencilled the clouds and as an afterthought, created a flip card for the inside and lined up the stencil to stencil the clouds again to create a continuous pattern.

The front was decorated with various vines and flowers. I added white Liquid Pearls to the centres of the flowers. The sentiment and the top flower were adhered only on the left side of the gate so the card opens up to reveal the cloud panel and the hidden flip card. I added vellum to the back of the windows to soften the inside.

TSOT 696 - Doodled Stones

Welcome to Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge 696!

The sketch is shown below.

Doodling has never been my thing... I always struggle with it. A friend of mine introduced me to some different methods of doodling and I really liked the "stones" look. It took me several tries to get the results I wanted. I doodled the stones, coloured and shaded them and added some white details on a large piece of white cardstock. The squares were cut from that piece and adhered to white mats. The black background was embossed and I arranged the squares as per the sketch. I also cut two very thin strips of white cardstock to add between the squares. The sentiment was stamped and I used the same markers to blend a background for the mat behind the sentiment.

DT 217 - Kraft Birthday

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 217!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose to create a birthday card.
The Kraft background was die cut with a stitched leaf coverplate die. I cut the branches and flowers from brown, green and purple cardstock and arranged them on the front. The entire front was splattered with gold paint before I added the sentiment at the bottom.

Foiled Card Set - Timeless Blooms

The Timeless Blooms collection from Taylored Expressions is gorgeous! I used the foiled base sheets for these cards.

The blue set was stencilled and then foiled with blue (around the flowers). The yellow set was stencilled in shades of yellow and the foiling was on the stems in turquoise. The foiling can be hard to see in the photos as it appears either very light or almost black but it is so pretty in real life. I stamped text in white, splattered ink and foil, die cut the centres and placed them on cardstock and used arch dies for variation. I chose to make 5x7 cards and used caring sentiments as these will be used for the outreach program at my church. The last photo shows the set of 8 cards wrapped with a ribbon.

Marvin the Mouse and His Apple Basket

I recently purchased the Marvin Mouse die set and had to use it!

I die cut all the pieces for the mouse, the apple basket and the apples. I added dimension to the pieces with inks and markers and then stencilled the background to make grass and clouds. The basket with the apples was placed on the right and Marvin stands to the left, holding an apple. The sentiment was stamped in the top corner.

CD 705 - Birthday Stripes

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 705!

The colour grid is below.

I choose to make a clean and simple card.
I masked off three long rectangles on a card front and ink blended each of them using the colours in the grid. The leaf and sentiment were stamped in black ink and I splattered the card front with gold paint. It was adhered to a white card base with foam tape.

I Woof You

This cute mini slimline card was created for the 30 Minute Card Making Stash Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows:

Type of card: slimline/mini slimline, Colour: monochromatic, Embellishment: three of a kind, Technique: fussy cutting and Occasion: thinking of you or friendship.

I ink blended a turquoise background and splattered it with water. I die cut three circles and placed black cardstock behind the inked panel. The dogs were stamped, die cut and adhered inside each of the circles. I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment and added three gems around it.

I took the original photo BEFORE I coloured the dog's tongue pink... this is the photo after that was done!

Banded Double Gatefold Card

I have made this card style before - it was time to revisit it again.

The vellum band slides off the top and the card opens to reveal a double gatefold design. I chose purple and green papers to decorate the panels and the centre panel was embossed and I dragged an ink pad over the top. The flowers were all stamped and stencilled and I chose a large flower for inside the card. There is a notch at the top to pull out a white panel for a place to write a message.

Trio of Fun Fold Cards

Let's Stamp Together is a card kit that I receive each month - this time, it was created by Pink & Main.

All three cards are fun fold cards - not difficult ones, but cards with a twist. They are shown closed and then open (photo taken from above). The bicycle in this set is so adorable and it's not huge so it is great as part of a scene on a card.

AH 682 - Sunflower Trio

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 682!

The sketch is shown below.

I inked the edges of two pieces of yellow cardstock and adhered them at the top and bottom. The blue circle was placed above the yellow strip and I splattered the background with gold paint. The sunflowers were die cut, stencilled and cut apart. I arranged them over the top of the circle (which you can't see) and placed a butterfly at the top along with some brown gems around the card.

Rainbow Stripes on Black

This card was created for an online crop event - I used a rainbow colour theme.

The stripes were cut and adhered to a black panel. I ink blended a rainbow on white cardstock and adhered the stamped sentiment to that piece. I added some gold metallic thread to the back and glued the sentiment to the front. The black panel was adhered to a white card base and I added some gold gems around the card.

Rainbow Squares Scraps Card

This cute card was inspired by one made by Laura Beacham. I love the tiny squares and all the white space.

I chose a rainbow paper pack and cut the squares from leftover pieces. They were arranged on a white card front and a sentiment was added along with some die cut vellum leaves (patterned vellum). I doodled around the edge and adhered the front to the base with craft foam.

Enjoy,

Alyson

Cut It Up 356 - Trio of Coneflowers

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 356!

The theme for this challenge is florals - my favourite!

I pulled out one of my favourite die sets - the Honey Bee Stamps coneflower.

I die cut three sets of flowers and leaves from white cardstock and inked the pieces. They were shaped, splattered with white paint and assembled. I played with several backgrounds and finally settled on a woodgrain background. The flowers and leaves were arranged on the front and I added a heat embossed sentiment with foam tape. I added some gold gems around the flowers.

BB May - Be Happy Tiny White Flowers

Welcome to Beautiful Blossoms and our May challenge!

The inspiration photo is below. It's optional to use this but your project must have a focus on florals.

I drew my inspiration from the colours in the photo as well as the small flowers.
I lightly inked a background and embossed it with a 3D embossing folder. The flowers, leaves and ribbon were die cut and assembled. I cut some tiny flowers apart and placed them around the main image. The sentiment was added under the centre of the bow and I used clear Stickles on the centres of the flowers.

Lucky to Know You Stencilled Flowers

This card was stencilled - and the stencil is designed to make it look sort of like watercoloring. The coordinating die was used to add the stitching holes and I stitched with silver metallic thread. The front panel was trimmed to fit on an A2 card base and I added an embossed sentiment at the bottom.

Vellum Poppies

I found this card style on Pinterest and since I had most of the supplies that were used, I decided to make it myself.

The card front was hand embossed to add some lines on the front and the sentiment was stamped at the bottom. The poppies were die cut from vellum, white and black cardstock. They were assembled and I arranged the leaves underneath. I cut the leaves so the paper wouldn't show through the vellum. A few gold gems were added and I adhered the card front to the base with craft foam.

TSOT 695 - Silhouette Birthday

Welcome to Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge 695!

The sketch is shown below.

I ink blended a panel with teal, blue and purple and stamped a silhouette image. I die cut two circles and backed them with black cardstock so the pattern would show up better. The same size circles were die cut from white cardstock and that piece was then embossed. The circle frames were placed back on the white front and adhered to a black mat with foam tape and then to a teal card base. I added silver Stickles to the bottom of each pattern on the circles as well as few other places around the card.

DT 216 - Hello Bicycle

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 216!

The small graphic is shown below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

The wheel element in this challenge was a tough one for me...
The white background was embossed and I die cut a yellow arch and inked around the edges. The bicycle was die cut and assembled and I added flowers in the basket. The sentiment was added above the bicycle.

If you are wondering about how I met the requirements, here is the explanation:
3 layers in addition to the base - the bicycle has several layers plus the basket and flowers add additional layers.
2 shapes - the arch and the circle from the bicycle wheel are two shapes.
1 image - either the bicycle or the flowers could be the image.

Cross Stitch Card Trio

This trio of cards is from the latest Let's Stamp Together subscription. They are not really cross-stitched... just stamped with cross stitch images!

One of the cards has a stencilled centre section with some twine at the bottom. The others use several of the stamps in the set to create both focal points and backgrounds.

Enjoy,

Alyson
