Alphabet Challenge - Letter S

I am still working away at the Alphabet Challenge... this is my card for the letter S.

S stands for the following: scene card, sunflowers, scarecrow, squirrels, stencilling and sweater weather. Whew!

I stencilled the clouds and added the grass at the bottom. The basket was die cut and inked and I stamped, coloured and die cut the scarecrow, sunflowers, mice and leaves. The scene was placed on two mats and then on the card base. An autumn sentiment referring to sweater weather was placed at the bottom.

From My Window to Yours

This adorable card was inspired by one on the Waffle Flower site.

I die cut all the plant pieces and window frames. The backgrounds behind the windows were stencilled with clouds and I added the images accordingly. The frames were set on a pink plaid background and I added a sentiment across the top and adhered the card front to the base with craft foam.

Emoji Notification Card

 How cute is this?

I love the little emojis that I stamped, coloured and die cut. I embossed black cardstock and die cut a circle from that piece. I added a thin gold frame and placed the emojis around the frame. The sentiment was stamped on blue cardstock and I added that piece behind the black panel which was adhered to the white card base with foam tape.

You're So Grate

This card was CASEd from the Trinity Stamps website.

I embossed the white background with a dotted folder. I die cut all the pieces for the sentiment and images and added them to the card front. The card front was adhered to a black card base - easy!

Holiday Cheer Snowman

This cute card was CASEd from one on the Sunny Studios website.

I inked a panel of white cardstock in a rainbow colour scheme and adhered a piece of black cardstock over the edge so less than an inch is showing. The wreath and snowflakes were die cut and I placed them around the rainbow coloured snowman. So cute but so fun!

Let's Stamp Together August - Little Birdies

These cards were made with the Let's Stamp Together subscription. The designer of August's kit was Pretty Pink Posh and it included a stamp set, two stencils and tons of dies!

Some of the birds were stamped and coloured and others were die cut, inked and assembled. The cards are so cute with so many neat ideas.

AH 698 - Trio of Poinsettias

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 698!

The sketch is shown below.

I am heavily into making Christmas cards now so I chose a holiday theme. The blue base was die cut with an impression die and I splattered the white piece with gold paint. The circle and the sentiment pieces were placed in the centre and I added three poinsettias in the corners. Some gold gems finished off this pretty card.

Come and join us at Atlantic Hearts and show us how you interpret this sketch.

You have until Sunday evening to link up your project.

We can't wait to see what you create!

Open Sentiment Tree Card

This card was made for the 30 Minute Cardmaking Stash Dash.

The parameters for this challenge were as follows: Card Style: surprise inside, Colour: green, Embellishment: crafter's choice, Technique: tearing and Occasion: holiday or thinking of you.

I chose to make a Christmas card. The trees were die cut and inked. I used gold and silver pens and red Liquid Pearls to add the dots on the trees. The blue background was embossed with a falling snow embossing folder and I tore pieces of white cardstock to create snow. The circle opening allows the sentiment to be seen on the inside of the card and I added clear Stickles along the edges of the snowbanks.

Plumeria Card

This pretty card uses one of my favourite creative sets. The plumeria set from Pinkfresh Studio is so pretty.

I used a quilted die on the white background and then die cut a large oval from the centre of the panel. The floral image was stamped, stencilled and die cut. I inked the opposite corners of the oval and set it inside the raised background. The floral image was adhered across the oval and I added the sentiment and some clear gems on the front.

Watt's Up?

This is the most adorable stamp set... there are coordinating dies but I didn't use them.

This was a new to me technique... stamped the lightbulbs with grey ink and coloured in the open section using a white Posca marker. That was tough - the marker is very wet and getting full coverage in one pass is almost impossible. The paper pills if the marker is layered.

Once that was dry, I restamped the image and embossed it in black. I fussy cut the silver parts for the bulbs and coloured the bottoms black. The sentiment was embossed in white at the bottom. Some rounded edges on the layers and this card was finished!

Cut It Up 364 - Pair of Lovebirds

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 364!

The theme for this challenge is to make a shaped card.

I chose an arch shape. The white background was embossed with a leaf folder and I die cut all the elements for the birds and flowers from white cardstock. Those pieces were inked and the birds were placed on their swing. I added a sentiment at the bottom.

Come and join us at Cut It Up and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have until Monday, September 14 to link up your project.

Paper Pieced Poinsettias

This card looks so easy but it was time consuming!

I die cut the oval frame from gold, green and white cardstock. The gold frame was adhered to an embossed panel and the green pieces were fit into the image. I inked the white poinsettia pieces with dark red in the centre, fading to pink at the ends. Those pieces were pieced back into the gold outline. I added a hot foiled sentiment and some gold gems.

Non-Traditional Poinsettia Shaker Cards

I was inspired to use this colour scheme from a blog post on the Pinkfresh Studio site. Blue and purple for poinsettias are so pretty.

I stamped the images with medium grey ink and used stencils to colour the images. They were die cut and I die cut several additional pieces for each card to stack them together to create depth. The background was die cut with a quilted die and the shaker pieces were placed in the centre with the stacked image on top. Hot foiled sentiments were added to each card.

Nessie Z-Fold Card

Here is another Nessie fun fold card, a Z-fold card this time.

The scene image was stencilled twice so I could line up the panels when the card is closed. The clouds and the water pieces were die cut and added across the top and bottom. Nessie was stamped along with some seaweed pieces. Once they were coloured, they were die cut and arranged on the front. The sentiment was placed at the top and I added Stickles on the water.

Sketchy Saturday - Happy Day

This card was created for the Sketchy Saturday challenge. The sketch is shown below.

I wanted very contrasting sides so I chose dark alcohol ink paper and almond cardstock. The squares were die cut and assembled in the centre and I added a stamped sentiment to the centre square. I felt like the card needed something extras so I placed some gold gems around the sentiment.

Just for You Florals

This card was created using my favourite colour combo - turquoise and grey. I coloured the flowers with various turquoise markers and the leaves were coloured in grey. The image was die cut, along with some butterflies. Everything was arranged on a splattered light grey background. That piece was adhered to a black card base with foam tape and I added a thin stamped sentiment near the bottom of the flowers. A few clear gems were also placed around the card.

Nessie Pop-Up Card

This is just the cutest card! It's a pop-up card that folds flat for mailing.

I stencilled the scene and cut the panels into strips to fit the background. The clouds and water pieces were die cut and inked for dimension. They were adhered to the top and bottom of the base. Nessie and all the seaweed images were die cut, inked and adhered to the layers to create a scene. I added some holographic die cut fish to the water on the front and then used Stickes to line the edges of the water. Nessie's eye and spots on her body were enhanced with Glossy Accents. The sentiment was placed at the top.

I am entering this card in the Creative Creases Challenge

Sending Sunshine Floral Wreath

The wreath was created using a half circle floral image which was stamped twice, opposite from each other. I coloured the images and then splattered the front with black and gold paint. That piece was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and adhered to a black card base with foam tape. The sentiment was stamped and added at the side of the wreath. Some clear gems were placed around the card.

Pair of Sunflower Cards

These two cards were created with the same sunflower image - one was embossed in brown and the other was stamped in black. I coloured both of them - the embossed one with stencils and the stamped one with Copic markers. Each was die cut along with a frame and adhered to an embossed background. I added hot folded sentiments and twine to each.

Which is your favourite?

Birthday Slimline

I chose a corner floral image and stamped it in opposite corners on a slimline layer piece. The flowers were coloured with Copics and I added details with a white gel pen. The card front was splattered with gold paint and adhered to a coloured mat and then to the card base with foam tape. I added clear Stickles on the flower centres and the wings of the dragonfly.

Full Front Poinsettia Card

This is another card inspired by the Jingle and Joy Card Event

I die cut lots of flowers and leaves and assembled the flowers first. They were adhered to a smaller top folding card base that isn't visible from the front. The flowers and leaves were arranged so the card stands up when it is open and the folded card base is hidden. I added a foiled sentiment to the front.

Swinging Ornament Card

This pretty card was inspired by one from the Jingle and Joy Card Event.

The ornament swings back and forth. I chose a blue colour scheme and stamped snowflakes on the background. The ornament was decorated and attached at the top of the card. There is foam tape on the background that allows the ornament to sit free and swing back and forth.

Set of Thanks Cards

A friend of mine asked for a set of thank you cards so I went back to a product set from Concord and 9th. The images were stencilled in seven colour combinations. I trimmed each of the panels and adhered them to grey cardstock and then a coloured card base. Some gems were added to each card.

Christmas Acetate Double Panel Card

This pretty card was inspired by one made by Yana Smakula.

There are three sections - the front has an acetate centre and the grey panel behind has a few additional images on it that show through the acetate when the card is closed. Further inside, there is a third panel with a place to write a message.

AH 696 - Fruit Picnic

Welcome to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 696!

The sketch is shown below.

I chose a fruit theme for my card. Using very old patterned papers, I created the two panels and then stamped and die cut several fruit images. I also stamped a red checkered tablecloth. The fruit was arranged inside a die cut circle and I added an embossed sentiment underneath and some black gems.

Card Within a Card - Mice Christmas

This cute card is based on one designed by Connie Stewart (Simply Simple Stamping). I chose a mice theme for my card.

The papers determined the colours of the images. I stamped, coloured and die/fussy cut the images. There are three sections to the card and there are images on each section. The ones on the writing panel inside the card were stamped directly onto that piece. Aside from clear Stickles on some of the elements, I didn't add any other embellishments.

Birthday Stained Glass Card

Creating a stained glass look is so easy - I used an outline die and backed the outline die cut with vellum. I coloured the sections from the back and also coloured around the images with a light blue marker. I added two thick frames and an embossed sentiment. The centres of the flowers were embellished with clear Stickles. Easy!

Cut It Up 363 - Be Merry Penguin

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 363!

The theme for this challenge is transportation.

I struggled with finding something to use for this challenge until I thought outside the box. I have the standard bicycles, etc but transportation can take many forms... there are sleds, paper airplanes or even a piece of ice!

I cut white glitter paper on a big angle and adhered it to turquoise patterned paper. That piece was die cut along with a black mat and a white card base to give a rough edge border. The penguin on his sled was stamped, coloured and fussy cut and I placed him along the angle of the snow. The sentiment was die cut from red cardstock and adhered at the bottom.

Come and join us at Cut It Up and show us how you interpret this challenge.

Peanuts Gang Winter Cards

These three cards were made using a holiday stamp and die set featuring the Peanuts Gang.

I stamped, coloured and die cut all the images. Some snowbanks were fussy cut and others were die cut. I splattered the background on two of the cards. The images were arranged to create scenes and I added sentiments to each card. Clear Stickles and a clear shimmer brush were used to add some details to the cards.

Holiday Skaters

This card was from the 30 Minute Card Making Stash Dash.

The parameters were as follows: Card Style: 5x7, Colour: orange, Embellishment: border, Technique: stamping, and Occasion: sympathy or no sentiment.

I chose to make a holiday card. I inked the background and splattered it with white paint. The lower piece is holographic paper but it photographed very dark - it's much lighter in real life. The skaters were stamped, coloured and fussy cut - and my orange is the carrots of their noses. I added a scalloped border along the left side and adhered a black frame around the images. I am showing this with the sentiment in place - that was added later.

Quilted Card

Here is my card for letter Q for the Alphabet Challenge - Q is for quilt.

I cut four sections of patterned paper pieces and arranged them on a square sort of like a quilt. The card looked rather blank after stamping the sentiment so I added a spool of thread with a needle and some scissors.

This is my letter P card for the Alphabet Challenge - P is for poinsettias.

I die cut three poinsettias, inked them and splattered the pieces with water. They were shaped and arranged on a woodgrain background. I added an embossed sentiment and several gold gems.

Hello Scene Card

The letter O for the alphabet challenge was a bit of a struggle for me... ocean was the best choice and I pulled out a stamp set I haven't used in ages.

The scene was created by stamping images to create a mountain and water scene. I also stamped some mountains on grey cardstock and placed that piece across the embossed card front. Silver ribbon was added under the mountain strip and I placed the sentiment under that and added the scene image along with a silver bow.

Enjoy,

Alyson
