Acetate Gatefold Card - You’re the Sweetest

I posted this card style about a week ago but I taught this to others a few days ago and this is the second result.

The daisies are from a Gina K. Designs stamp, stencil and die set that was provided to participants involved in a recent online event. It hasn’t yet been released to the public. The flowers and leaves were stencilled and die cut. The sentiment was hot foiled in gold and die cut as well. All the pieces were adhered to an acetate front. I added some yellow patterned paper in the background and used light blue cardstock with ribbon along the sides to hide the glued acetate. There is room on the back to write a message.

Friendly Tulips

This card took me much longer than it should have taken due to some errors on my part. I made silly mistakes with the masking (the stem and tulip images each contain all three images on one stamp so I masked the flowers to stamp them in different colours). I forgot to remove the masking paper from the stamp and accidentally stamped the image, leaving the ink from the masking paper on the card front - not once, not twice but THREE times! That was just one of many errors! Let's not discuss the rest...

The background was splattered with two colours of gloss spray and the tulip images were stamped to the right side. I double stamped them, trying to get some shading using only inks... The sentiment was stamped in the upper corner and I die cut the word "friend" x3 and stacked it before adding it to the bottom of the card. A black diagonal striped paper filled in the side of the card and the card front was adhered to black and then dark pink cardstock before being adhered to the card base.

CD 495 - Kindness Leaves

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 495!

We have a monochromatic challenge this week - choose ONE colour and use it with black and white. Gold and silver are free to use.

I created a background using three shades of blue Distress Oxide inks and then splattered it with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls to add some shimmer. The sentiment was embossed in white on black. The white frame was adhered to a black frame and the sentiment was bordered the same way. I die cut several leaves and adhered them to the frame before attaching the entire front to the inked background. Clear gems were added for additional shine although they look silver in the photo.

Come and join us at Colour Dare and show us how you interpret the challenge shown above.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Embossed Fold Back Card

This neat card fold design was made by Aarthi Shanmugam. I wasn't able to find a blog or instagram account with her name but I saw this somewhere on Facebook and really liked the design.

The base cardstock was scored and folded to create an accordion fold. The back piece was embossed with a chevron pattern and the frame on the front was die cut threee times and stacked. The flowers were stamped, stencilled and die cut and added to the frame. The sentiment was embossed in white on black, die cut and adhered across the frame and slightly over the image. I added some gems and brushed the flowers with a clear shimmer brush.

Say Hello Half Fold Card

This card is remarkably simple to make but the effect always brings a smile to the recipient.

The top right side of the card base was cut away and the flowers were arranged over the cut piece. I die cut blank images so the back of the coloured images would be covered on the reverse side. The sentiment was stamped at the top of the card and a message can be written on the lower half of the open card.

Birthday and Best Wishes Anemonies

The flowers and leaves on these two cards are from a roll of washi tape that was adhered to white cardstock and die cut - I just love the gold touches!

The background diamond for each card was hot foiled in gold and die cut only around the outside to leave an open section inside the diamond. I embossed a piece of cardstock (a different folder for each card) and placed it behind the diamond background which was adhered with foam tape. The sentiment on the first card was hot foiled and placed at the top. On both cards, Gold Liquid Pearls were added around the images.

The second card has a die cut sentiment that spans across the open diamond and there is also a small sentiment at the bottom.

DT 109 - Rainbow Gnomes

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 109!

This week, the challenge is all about rainbows and make-believe items. The small graphic is below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information.

I chose to combine gnomes and a rainbow - who says gnomes can't be found with rainbows, right?

I stencilled the rainbow first and then stencilled the background with a cloud stencil. The gnomes and the clouds were stamped, coloured and die cut and added to the card front. A sentiment was stamped at the top and the card front was adhered to a base with craft foam.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

I am also linking up my card with the Colourful Options Challenge.

White Pigment Ink Stamped Cards

White pigment ink can be used for various techniques and this one is really neat.

The solid images were stamped in white on coloured cardstock to form an outline. I didn't do this with a stamp platform as it was easier to use a clear block... or so I thought. The peach card was done first and the white ink was so light that I wasn't able to see it through the block. Consequently, the image that was stamped over the white is not aligned but rather looks kind of random. The white ink causes the dye ink to lighten and the areas where there was no white ink are darker. The second attempt was better but I purposely offset the turquoise image for a more random look. Sentiments were stamped in the open area of each card and I added some white drops after adhering each card front to a white card base.

Happy Bird-Day Side Easel Card and GOAL MET!

This post marks a FULL YEAR of at least one blog post per day!

This adorable card was created using the So Tweet stamp and die set from CTMH. The background was inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink and I added two green stitched die cuts at the bottom to resemble grass. I drew a few grassy sections on those pieces with a green marker. The bird was coloured and adhered to the front scene. The sentiment was stamped and mounted on two pieces of cardstock so it would be high enough to act as a stopper for the easel.

Folded Gatefold Card

This is such an easy card to create! It's a sort of gatefold card with acetate attached to the front.

The base of the card is grey cardstock with a full size piece of acetate attached across the front. Two yellow cardstock panels were added at the sides to cover the adhesive from the acetate. I added ribbon strips on each panel. The flowers and leaves were stamped and die cut and they were placed diagonally across the acetate. A gold foiled sentiment was placed slightly to the right and I brushed the centres of the flowers with a gold shimmer brush.

This card folds flat for mailing as well!
