Expanding Accordion Card - So Very Thankful for You

This expanding accordion card design is one I have posted before but this is the third version of it! I like the colours used on this card and the focus is a thankful for you theme.

A video for the assembly and cutting sizes for this card can be found here

The flowers were created using a set of layering dies. There are several of the flowers within the card. I used some sentiments from Pink Fresh Studio and Close To My Heart and the letters were die cut. The only embellishment I added was Liquid Pearls. There is a panel on the back for a place to write a message.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Eat, Play Love Paper Pack, White Daisy Cardstock, Glacier Cardstock, Candy Apple Cardstock, Fern Cardstock, Peach Cardstock, Smoothie Cardstock, Avocado Cardstock

Stamps: Happiness Lives Here, Grateful for You, Known and Loved (PFS)

Inks: Intense Black (SSS)

Accessories: Block Alphabet Thin Cuts, Stitched Simple Stitched Brackets Thin Cuts, Layered Rose Dies (Kaisercraft), Stitched Oval Dies (GMD), Red Liquid Pearls, Organdy Ribbon, Thin Foam Tape

Pull Apart Christmas Cards

I am slowing working away on Christmas cards. These ones are easy to make and I can do a few at the same time. They fold together to a standard A2 size card and open up to reveal a second message or image inside. The entire card front is adhered to a card base so there is room inside the card to write a message.

I used retired patterned paper from Kaisercraft for both cards. The panel with the image was die cut along with a coordinating base. These came together pretty quickly.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Wonderland, Let It Snow, Teal Cardstock, Dark Blue Cardstock (all Kaisercraft), Mint Cardstock, White Daisy Cardstock, White Cards and Envelopes (CTMH)

Stamps: Peaceful Boughs (SU), Reindeer Crossing, First Noel (both CTMH)

Inks: Intense Black (SSS), Pewter, Evergreen (CTMH)

Accessories: Stitched Fancy Bracket Thin Cuts (CTMH), Festive Banners Dies (Sizzix), Merry Christmas Die (Creative Expressions), Tri-Blend Markers, White Liquid Pearls

Enjoy,

CD 465 - Wonders of the Season Layered Card

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 465!

The tic-tac-toe grid this week contains colours taken from the CMTH paper pack called Holly and Ivy.

My card meets the following lines:

    - left diagonal (Sage, Silver, Evergreen)

    - bottom row (Candy Apple, Harbour, Evergreen)

    - middle column (Mink, Silver, Harbour)

I used a set of retired background dies to create the background. The layers are as follows: Evergreen glitter paper, Harbour cardstock, Silver glitter paper and patterned paper from the Lovely paper pack on top. The pieces for the poinsettia were stamped on coloured cardstock using the same colour of ink and then die cut. I did the same with the branches and the berries. The berry pieces are actually Mink but they look white in the photo. I layered the poinsettia and added the branches and berry stems around the outside. The leaves of the poinsettia were brushed with the Clear Shimmer Brush and the branches were brushed with the Evergreen Shimmer Brush. I added silver Stickles to the berries. Silver glitter gems were placed in the centre of the poinsettia. The sentiment was embossed in silver and placed at the top of the card.

Stencilled Inlay Card

This is a stencilled inlay card - the main image was stamped and lines were drawn down the length of the card. A section was cut out and another piece of cardstock with a stencilled pattern was placed behind the open area.

The second attempt was much better than the first but I have shown both cards. I used totally different colours for the image and the stencilled background and the result is that the image really pops.

My first attempt at this was a learning experience. I did all the same things but I had stencilled the pattern first and I didn't even think about the colours I was using to colour the image. It turned out that I used the same colour for the woman's dress and the stencilled background. That obviously didn't render the results I was after.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Glacier Cardstock, Mint Cardstock, White Cards and Envelopes

Stamps: You're How Old?, So Tweet

Inks: Intense Black (SSS), Nectarine, Paprika, Peacock Feathers DO Ink

Accessories: Water Droplets Stencil, Mega Flowers Stencil (both Gina K. Designs), Tri-Blend Markers, Copic Markers, Craft Foam

Birthday Accordion Fold Card

A while ago, I posted a Christmas card using this same pattern. This accordion fold card is made to celebrate a birthday.

The patterned papers are from a retired CTMH paper pack called Eat, Play, Love. I used a red, yellow and light blue colour combination. The front images and sentiments were stamped, coloured (where appropriate) and die cut. The inside images were stamped on a stitched oval die cut. There is a panel on the back for a place to write a message since there isn't room inside the card for that purpose.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Eat, Play, Love Paper Pack, White Daisy Cardstock, Glacier Cardstock, Candy Apple Cardstock

Stamps: Wishing You Everything (plus Thin Cuts), Beloved Bouquet

Inks: Candy Apple, Fern, Glacier

Accessories: Stitched Oval Dies (GD), Block Alphabet Thin Cuts, Tri-Blend Markers, White Organdy Ribbon

Enjoy,

TSOT 527 - Poinsettia with Flourish

Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 527!

The sketch is vertical this week and the theme (in addition to the sketch) is script/text.

I used some paper that has text on it so I did add that element to my card.

The patterned papers are from a retired CTMH Christmas paper pack. I cut the oval using a stitched oval die and stamped both the sentiment and the poinsettia. Although the poinsettia does have a die, it also cuts the leaves and I didn't want those so I chose to fussy cut the flower instead. The flourish is from an old set of clear sparkle flourishes and I coloured the pieces with a coordinating green marker before adhering them to my card. The poinsettia was brushed with a clear shimmer brush and some Stickles were added to the center of the flower.

Come and join us at TSOT and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

Double Trouble 94 - Pumpkin Gnomes

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 94!

The small graphic is below - please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for more information.

My inspiration came from the leaves and the colours in the leaves. I began by stamping the grass and then inking over the blades. The clouds were created using a cloud stencil and a light blue ink. Several leaves were stamped and masked along the bottom in two spots and then they were coloured. I decided to use a slimline card format to accommodate a "pumpkin sale" scene. The gnomes were stamped, coloured and die cut. The pumpkins were stamped, coloured and fussy cut. They were stacked along the right side so the gnome could wheel his wheelbarrow toward the pile. The last step was to stamp a small sentiment in the top right corner.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us how you interpret this challenge.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

I am also linking up my card with the Use Your Stuff challenge

Happy Holidays Border Card

The border of this card was created using layering stencils - and with a light and dark touch with some of the same inks to provide more variety. The sentiment was stamped and die cut twice and the pieces were offset to create a shadow with some gold metallic thread underneath. The entire card front was splattered with three shimmer brushes and adhered to a gold metallic paper and then a piece of dark green cardstock. The last step was to add some green gems around the inside of the frame.

Products used are as follows:

Papaer: Evergreen Cardstock, White Cards and Envelopes (CTMH), Gold Paper (misc.), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Thrill of Hope with dies (PFS)

Inks: Grassy Knoll, Key Lime, Olive, Evergreen, Candy Apple, Passion Fruit (all PFS)

Accessories: Holiday Botanical Backgrounds Layering Stencils, Emerald City Gems (PFS), Shimmer Brushes - Green Apple, Evergreen, Candy Apple (CTMHJ), Gold Metallic Thread (misc.)

Traditional Christmas Wreath

The wreath on this card was created using a series of layering stencils. I used a light and a dark touch so it looks like many colours were used. I spattered the background using three colours of shimmer brushes. The sentiment was stamped and die cut twice - once from white and a second time from red glitter paper. Those pieces were offset to create a shadow effect. Green metallic thread was added behind the sentiment and I placed some clear gems around the card. The front was adhered to a piece of red glitter paper and then to a dark green background. This card looks better in person as the glitter is much more evident.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Evergreen Cardstock, Red Glitter Paper (both CTMH), Neenah Solar White Cardstock

Stamps: Thrill of Hope (PFS)

Inks: Emerald City, Evergreen, Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime, Berrylicious, Candy Apple (all PFS)

Accessories: Thrill of Hope Layering Stencils and Dies (PFS), Shimmer Brushes - Candy Apple, Green Apple, Evergreen (CTMH), Glacier Gems (PFS), Green Metallic Thread (misc.)

Leafy Season's Greetings

Leaves can be part of so many things other than just flowers. Here is a Christmas card using just leaves.

The leaf background was created using a series of layering stencils. Although there are three stencils, it appears there are move than three colours used as I used both light and dark shades with the same inks to create more depth. I cut the panel to fit the center of a slimline card. Green glitter paper was added along each side and a sentiment was placed across the center. Gold and green metallic thread was added under the sentiment piece and a few gold gems finished off the card.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Evergreen Cardstock, Green Glitter Paper, Gold Foil, Slimline Cards and Envelopes (all CTMH)

Stamps and Dies: Easy Expressions - Holiday Stamp and Dies (The Ton)

Inks: Willow, Clover, Evergreen, Versamark (all CTMH)

Accessories: You are Amazing Layering Stencils (PFS), Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Gold Gems (CTMH), Gold and Green Metallic Thread

Enjoy,

Alyson
