Christmas Iris Shaker

I haven't made a shaker card for ages... and shakers are one of my favourites! This one is for Christmas.

In addition to the shaker component, I also created an iris inside the circle. I used paper with small patterns and once the iris was finished, a piece of green glitter paper was added to the center. I turned the iris folded section into a shaker by adding some red and green sequins. Merry Christmas was stamped directly on the acetate using Staz-On ink. A skinny gold ribbon was tied in a bow and I added a few red sequins around the circle.

Products used are all Close To My Heart:

Paper: Holiday Stack, Candy Apple Cardstock, Green Glitter Paper, White Cards and Envelopes

Stamps: Reindeer Crossing

Inks: Black Staz-On ink

Accessories: Circle Shaker Window Thin Cut, Circle Shaker Window Foam and Acetate, Reed and Green Sequins, Gold Skinny Ribbon, Black Journaling Marker

Suspended Book Fold Card - Blossom

This is a suspended book fold card - I used this video to create my card.

The retired CTMH Blossom paper pack is one of my favourites - the colour combination is terrific! I used those papers along with coordinating cardstock to create this card.

The patterned paper panels were all mounted on mats and adhered to the sections of the card. I also added a panel on the back for a place to write a message. The floral images were stamped and coloured and adhered to the acetate strip across the front. The only embellishment I added was to brush the lines of the flowers with a clear shimmer brush.

This card folds flat to 5x7 so it is easy to mail!

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Blossom Paper Pack, White Daisy Cardstock, Green Apple Cardstock, Lagoon Cardstock

Stamps: Daisy Meadows Scrapbooking, Card Captions

Inks: Lagoon, Intense Black (SSS)

Accessories: Acetate, Stitched Nested Label Dies (SU), Tri-Blend Markers, Clear Shimmer Brush

TSOT 523 - Two Leaf Cards

Welcome to Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge 523!

The optional theme this week (in addition to the sketch) is falling leaves.

I decided to combine both the sketch and the theme for both cards. I stayed true to the sketch as well.

On the first card (slimline), the leaves were stamped and coloured and a top piece was cut using stitched square dies. That all fit together as a shaker with gold sequins and stars plus some iridescent flower confetti as the shaker pieces. The background was inked using several Distress Oxide colours and then I dropped some water on top to soften the appearance. The shaker was adhered to the background and a piece of coral shimmer trim was added underneath. I stamped a sentiment and added it to the front of the card along with some gold sequins.

For the second card, stitched squares were die cut and I stamped three leaf combinations, one in each. The leaves were coloured and then added to a grey background. The papers are all from the Falling for You paper collection from CTMH. I added some gold embellishing thread and gold glitter gems but kept this card pretty simple.

Come and join us at TSOT and show us how you interpret the sketch shown above.

You have two weeks to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Slimline Floral Card Set

This set of slimline cards and coordinating box was inspired by my wonderfully talented friend, Lisa Stenz. She designs the most beautiful cards... I used her idea and created a set of eight cards plus a gorgeous box to hold all of them.

There are four cards of each orientation and each card was stamped with a different sentiment. The floral borders were stamped using a stamp press. One the outlines were stamped, then I coloured every one of them! That was a time consuming task to say the least! The cards are blank inside so a message can be written. I tied the box together with a piece of white organdy ribbon.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Wisteria Cardstock, Grape Cardstock, Slimline Cards and Envelopes

Stamps: Floral Border and Sentiments, Grateful for This Life, Slimline Sentiments, Greetings Mix 1 (SSS)

Inks: Intense Black (SSS)

Accessories: White Organdy Ribbon, Tri-Blend Markers, Touch Markers

Triple Time Stamping in Blue

I posted a couple of cards that used the triple time stamping technique a while ago. They are fun to create so I made another one - this time in blue.

The white cardsotck was temporarily adhered together for the purpose of stamping the flowers. It is a three step stamp - the outline, the full image and the shading. The pieces were separated and each was adhered to a Sapphire base. A piece of twine was wrapped around the center section and a narrow sentiment was added. Easy!

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Sapphire Cardstock (CTMH)

Stamps: To a Wild Rose (SU), Word Up (Reverse Confetti)

Inks: Sapphire, Bluebird, Carolina (all CTMH)

Accessories: White and Blue Twine (misc.), Ice Blue Stickles (Ranger)

Always in My Heart Slimline

I spent some time last week playing with Distress Oxide Sprays... they are fun but can be very, very messy. My hands were washed at least 40 times and the stain was STILL there! Next time, I will use some gloves...

This background was created using two oxide sprays. I initially sprayed them on the same surface and spritzed them with water but the result was a very dull colour. I cleaned off my surface and used one colour at a time. The paper was smooshed into the ink several times and heat set between each session. I probably did 6-7 smooshing sessions to get the result I wanted. I also dropped some water on the paper to create more interest. The last step was to splatter it with a Lagoon shimmer brush.

The sentiment was stamped in two colours and it was die cut. The die isn't long enough so I cut part of the image, flipped it around and cut the second half. I used the same technique on the sentiment border piece. The flower was stamped with four ink colours and die cut - same with the leaves. I added some bright pink embroidery thread behind the flower and finished off the card by adding some glacier gems.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: Neenah Solar White Cardstock, Teal Cardstock (scrapbook.com), Slimline Card and Envelopes (CTMH), Distress Watercolour Cardstock (Ranger)

Stamps: Slimline Sentiments (CTMH), Japanese Mum plus Dies (Altenew)

Inks: DO Sprays - Kitsch Flamingo, Peacock Feathers (Ranger), Black (CTMH), Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum, Raspberry Bliss, Grassy Knoll, Key Lime (PFS), Be Mine, All that Jazz (Catherine Pooler)

Accessories: Stitched Simple Brackets Thin Cuts, Lagoon Shimmer Brush, Clear Shimmer Brush  (CTMH), Dark Pink Embroidery Thread (misc.), Copic Marker, Thin Foam Tape, Glacier Gems (PFS)

Double Trouble 92 - Dearest Friend Double Accordion Card

Welcome to Double Trouble Challenge 92!

Fun folds or fancy folds... whatever you call them, they are so fun to create! There are SO many possibilities so find one and come and join us!

The basic details are below. Please visit the Double Trouble Challenge Blog for detailed information about this challenge.

I love very involved fun fold cards - the more folds, the better. This one is called a Double Accordion Card and the tutorial can be found here

I chose a blue and yellow colour scheme (two Play-Doh colours) and I didn't want to add any extra colours. The papers were selected because of the intense hues - primary Sapphire and Lemonade from CTMH. Some Blue Belle was used as well. The yellow paper has a small pattern on it that adds a little more to the card. The images were stamped with Sapphire pigment ink and embossed for the purpose of colouring with markers. The yellow flowers were brushed with Diamond Stickles and that has little specks of blue in it. The centres of the flowers were brushed with the Sapphire Shimmer Brush. There is a decorated panel on the back of the card for a place to write a message.

Come and join us at Double Trouble and show us your fun folds!

You have until September 16 to link up your project.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Swing Fold Card - Happy Fallidays

Autumn is just around the corner and the temperatures here are FINALLY starting to get a little cooler. We have been in a heat wave for several weeks with very warm temperatures and high humidity. I am so looking forward to the autumn season!

This is a swing fold card. There are many versions of this card out there - I found this one on You Tube.

The new Pumpkin Spice paper products from Close To My Heart are perfect for autumn. There are pumpkins, gourds, fall branches and leaves and a great mixed colour palette. I used one of the patterned papers and some coordinating cardstock to make this card.

The front was die cut using square dies and the card was folded to create a partial window. The images were stamped and coloured and some were fussy cut. I added a panel inside to write a message as well. I don't use stickers often but I did select a handful from the same collection to add to this card.

Products used are Close To My Heart unless otherwise indicated:

Paper: Pumpkin Spice Paper Pack and Sticker Collection, White Daisy Cardstock, Paprika Cardstock, Harbour Cardstock, Shortbread Cardstock

Stamps: A World with Octobers, Thanks and Giving

Inks: Harbour, Intense Black (SSS)

Accessories: Stitched Square Dies (GMD), Tri-Blend Markers, Copic Markers, Sharpie Markers

Beautiful Day

Digital designs are very new to me and this is one of a few that I purchased a while ago. I love the wreath image and the sentiment underneath. It was simply a matter of colouring the image and adhering it to a base. The first base layer is black and the card base is Bluebird cardstock.

I added some Stickles around the wreath but kept this simple so the wreath was the focus.

Products used are as follows:

Paper: White Daisy Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Bluebird Cardstock (All CTMH)

Inks: none

Stamps: none

Accessories: Angie Blom Digital Designs, Copic Markers, Waterfall Stickles

Enjoy,
