SS 761 - A World with Octobers

Welcome to Sketch Saturday Challenge 761!

The optional theme (in addition to the sketch) is to use orange.

I had a hard time with this sketch... I could only see a snowman's rear end for the longest time! I finally settled on some pumpkins and a large sentiment.

I created the blue background by scribbling on vellum with Copic markers. That was splattered with rubbing alcohol. While waiting for the background to dry, I stamped, coloured and fussy cut some pumpkins and branches. I also die cut a stitched border for the bottom. The vellum piece was wrapped around white cardstock and adhered to the card base. The sentiment was masked so the word Octobers would be in orange. I added the pumpkins at the bottom and placed three orange gems along the border piece. I used a blue marker to doodle around the border of the card.

CD 621 - Today, I am Thankful

Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 621!

It's a tic tac toe board this week - choose any row, column or diagonal. Note what is allowed - you can use other colours outside the row/comumn/diagonal but they must also be on the grid.

I used the middle column (Sundance, Pumpkin and Evergreen), plus the left diagonal (Scarlet, Pumpkin and Honey Butter) as well as Jade.

The postage collage background was die cut and I stencilled the various images using a mix of colours. Once that was done, I splattered the entire piece with gold paint. The postage backgound was adhered to Jade cardstock and then to a Kraft card base. I added a sentiment (stamped in Evergreen) at the right side.

Cut It Up 314 - Let It Snow

Welcome to Cut It Up Challenge 314!

The theme for this challenge is "inspired by a song".

I chose the song "Let It Snow" - perfect for Christmas!

The backgound of my card was created by smooshing watercolour cardstock into two shades each of purple and teal ink. Once that was dry, I embossed a snowflake pattern in opposite corners. I also splattered white paint on the front but that doesn't show well in the picture. The sentiment was die cut from white glitter foam and adhered across the centre. Some white Liquid Pearls were added around the card.

MTTC 544 - Beautiful Autumn

Welcome to My Time to Craft Challenge 544!

The theme for this challenge is autumn colours.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year - I love the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather!

The front of this card was inked using four colours of Distress Oxide inks and then die cut with a stitched leaf die. I also splattered that piece with water and gold paint. Since the background was so intense already, I wanted that to be the focus. I stamped a wonderful autumn sentiment using four inks and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. All the pieces were adhered to gold foil cardstock and then brown cardstock. I added some gold metallic thread around the sentiment but no other embellishments were used.

Come and join us at MTTC and show us your projects with autumn colours.

Cozy Trio Slimline

The images in this slimline shaker are just so adorable! I stamped and coloured three of them - a dog, a cat and a bunny - in pastel colours. The background was ink blended using Distress Oxide inks and splattered with water and white paint. It was die cut to add a stitched border and to cut out the circles. The images were set behind the openings and I added some snow and silver stars as shaker filler. The sentiment was embossed in white and placed across the card front.

Enjoy,

Purple Poinsettia

The Alex Syberia Designs poinsettia is one of my favourite stamp, stencil and die combinations. I stamped the flower and coloured it using the layering stencils. The background was die cut from white and adhered to a grey card base. The poinsettia was added to the front and I also die cut some fir sprigs to go under the flower. A sentiment was heat embossed and placed on the right side. Silver Stickles were added in the centre of the flower.

TSOT 656 - Christmas Wishes

Welcome to Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge 656!

I am heavily into making Christmas cards so that is my chosen theme for my card.

The pine branch was stamped and I arranged the snowflake ornament underneath and embossed that in silver. It was coloured with markers and the sentiment was stamped under that. The strips of patterned paper along the side coordinate with the image on the left and I added a thin strip of silver foil cardstock along the side. The entire card front was adhered to a dark green cardstock base and two small snowflakes were placed as per the sketch.

Pearly Sparkles - Cheer Gnome

Welcome to Pearly Sparkles October Challenge!

The theme for this challenge is fantasy.

I chose to use a gnome - a Christmas gnome in particular. That image was stamped, coloured and die cut and I also stamped and coloured a sentiment. Oval dies were used to frame the images. The backgound was created by smooshing cardstock into shades of red ink and then embossing that piece with a snowflake embossing folder. I used sandpaper to lightly sand over the raised images, leaving the white cardstock showing underneath. I added white and silver Liquid Pearls to the centres of the snowflakes and adhered the gnome and the sentiment to the front.

Come and join us at Pearly Sparkles and show us how you interpret this challenge.
